    And harsh as it sounds but most players wouldn't recognize good gameplay if it slapped them in the face with a 10ft pole with fancy lights and sound effects. That RDM/ SMN that silently ressed without some obnoxious 5 line macro, the tank that spot healed someone with vuln stacks before an aoe and saved them from dying, the phys ranged/ melee that had Arm's Lengths & Bloodbath ready when they had aggro or the tank went down, a well-timed and aimed Rescue that prevented a death, the dps that just deleted pulls, the healer that carried most of the healing without ever dropping dps, are all players that will likely go unnoticed.
    People comm for exp, for glam/ name/ race etc but rarely do I see well-deserved comms for someone that played well.

    Comms are and always will be a terrible metric for gauging someone's skill or ability to be a good mentor and it's best to be aware of that.
    I agree they're a terrible metric for being mentor but otherwise commendations aren't really a bad thing. It's just a way to thank other players for whatever reason - thank you for healing/tanking, thak you for having a good attitude, thank for you telling a funny joke, thank you for showing me a neat glamour, etc.

    Just separate the two from each other. Allow players to give more than one player in the party a commendation at the end because sometimes there are multiple players who deserve it.

    If there needs to be another qualifier to make players a mentor, that can be done. I honestly think that players shouldn't be auto granted mentorship just for having completed the base requirements. They should apply and have a waiting period. If they're on their waiting period, have a question appear at the end of every group duty they complete. "Do you think this player would make a good mentor?" Same restriction as commendations so you can't answer if you queued with the applicant. After getting X many "Yes" responses, they become a mentor if they also meet the other requirements.

    They aren't wrong. It's just like Endorsements in Overwatch. People usually endorse the supports first, sometimes tanks, and then DPS. That's why I tend to mostly only give commendations to the DPS here.

    I think they're mostly meaningless, but give them out occasionally to people I think are doing something exceptional.

    I remember last time I answered this question, some unhinged person tried to call me a bad person for 'denying others happiness' because I mentioned I didn't comm every run. I feel that's pretty insightful about the people who take comms seriously.

    Theyre useless for gauging how well someone did, but hardly a thorn in the side. Just give them or not, ignore them or not doesn't matter.

    Maybe it matters when comms are given to sprouts who think they mean something. They may play terribly but get some comms which might reinforce their terrible behavior. But at the end of the day youll learn to either play well or not.

    I find it funny how I received player comms so quick in only 2 years of playing. Currently sitting at 4100 and in my experience doing the mentor roulette grind was very good for receiving comms, and tanks and healers usually get most comms. To put it in perspective, it took about a year to get the 1500 comms to become a mentor, but after becoming a mentor and doing the mentor roulette grind and queuing for DF every day, the amount of comms I got increased so rapidly.

    What's my opinion of player comms? They're fine, not sure if they are necessarily a good metric to becoming mentor. They're nice to get but after 3k there's not much point to them as of now.

At least that's been my experience; if I play healer, I tend to get far more commendations than on other roles.
    I spam the commend menu twice as hard to get you before you leave.

    For me it depends on how the group did. if everyone did good job then i give commendation the person with a glamour that i like. but if a person goes above and beyond what their job needs to do they get commendation.

    but sadly i don´t think they will ever add more Achievements for commendation just like they have not add anything to the Achievement vendor since start of ShB and that was like what one item.

    but still for some reason i like getting commendations even its only one, but for some reason when i playing Rdm and saves the day (for some reason it happens a lot) i often get zero Commendation :P

    They're fine but I feel DPS should have its own category for coms seeing as if you tank or heal your just about assured a comm but hey you could be pulling your weight as a DPS and get nothing even if you revived the healer who got caught in orange and died.

    Or the sprout was given the comm because they actually were actively learning and improving...I feel sorry for you with that depth of negativity.

    They are honestly pointless. They don't really prove anything other than someone thought one of the below reasons:

    1. This person actually did their job properly;
    2. They were my co-DPS/tank to my heals/heals to my tanking;
    3. I liked their glamour;
    4. We signed up as an almost full group, lets just drop our comms on the single random;
    5. To get the commendation challenge log completed;

    They definitely don't get used for any reason other than those. Not giving them is the same thing, nobody(unless the rest of the group was together) knows if you commed someone else from the instance or not, and it doesn't have any affect on that person, other than maybe slowing down their trek to mentorship.
