I just want them to fix this long cast time for Ifrit. Makes zero sense to me. Still makes the rotation feel wonky. I dont mind keeping garuda cause I can use switfacst on that, but if they rework this class to this technically cheap phys ranged character at least be consistent...
Guess I misread that in all that was changed. Whatever*psst* Sleep is literally a Magical DPS role action. Healers get a single target version called Repose. It's irrelevant to the conversation anyway.
ah.., forgot, something that should fixed / should really be instant:
- summoning the 3 primals
...their summon / damage should be instant.., so they can still clip buffs, before the buffs fall off last sec (or before a boss jumps), .. they kind of ghost too often

Something tells me they are prepping SMN to be like BLM where it will have an "umbral/astral" phase with each phase tied to 3 summons and each ending with bahamut or phoenix. Just feels like the obvious progression because you can overlay the same buttons for another 3 summons without increasing button bloat. Summoning Ramuh would also bee a good excuse to bring back shadowflare. Either way they need to make Alexander a summon as well.
Imo if there is one thing they need to fix its the fact that the early levels feel so mundane with the rotation and it lacks visual flair. It would be nice if, as you leveled, you got each summon in their lvl 90 version one by one, similar to how you get them in the other FF games. Like you get Ifrit at 70, Garuda at 80 and Titan at 90, in the expansion once the retool the levels.

As far as the summons, they show up as they do at 90 because that's the point in the story we learn to call them in that fashion. I don't see them splitting the upgrade from the one trait.

There is no story reason for it to happen at 90. In fact Summoner story has been utterly divorced from its abilities since stormblood. The best you got was Prim promising a super cool technique but with 0 substance for what it actually does, let alone even is. Demi-summoning is also completely irrelevant to the story, since the plotline was about using machines to handle extremely complex formulas to create what are essentially permanent, sentient egi. There's no reason they couldn't give you the big primals over a wider level range.
Wouldn't stop the job from being utterly vapid but it would get the eye candy out there faster I suppose.

will wait for the programmers to make up their minds on changes to smn then after these changes have been made decide to play this job.

I don’t want them to start from scratch again, but I do hope they they add some depth to the job in 7.0.
Any kind of decision making would be nice.
Red mage is a perfect example of a job that upon release, was known for being simple, yet satisfying.
The rotation was extremely straight forward, but you were rewarded for paying attention to Ver procs and has the mana gauge to watch.
They’ve since then added to this job in meaningful ways. Every single ability feels good.
Meanwhile, summoner still has aetherflow for some reason, and physick.
I would love some kind of proc system. Maybe not like red mage, but something.
I’ve suggested this before, but what if your gems “upgraded” on proc and became another type of gem. Ruby could become diamond or something and shiva phase would be similar to ifrit, with some kind of twist.
My fear is that they’ll end up making ifrit Garuda titan the bahamut phase and then shiva ramuh leviathan will just be the phoenix phase and it will just be more of the same.
It's in there though. We'd been summoning egi for the longest time because Primals had that awful problem of tempering. When it came time to launch the Ragnarok, they learned a new / safer method. There is no story reason for it to happen at 90.
