No it's not. This is the PUG healer experience. Sometimes we have to be the glue that holds the party together so they can get their jobs done. That's why we are a support role. Is it every fight? No. It is even most fights? No. It happens, and the more resistant you are to stepping up and being what your party needs you to be, the more trouble that you're going to have because no party makeup is ever the same. There is a solution. If you want a party that is always the same exacting standards with no surprises, use premade groups. Use PF to find likeminded individuals if you don't have enough friends. Then you can kick them or bail on them as you want to. Like Striker44 said. Sometimes the responsibility is on our shoulders. It's not fair, but it's the way things are as a PUG healer.

Counter-solution: If you want to tank but not even do the bare-minimum, go play with trusts. That way, no one will expect anything from you.٩(ˊᗜˋ*)و

You have such a warped view of what “support” means, support means your main contribution to the party is not damage, it’s not “play your role and someone else’s who doesn’t want to properly contribute to the group”

If they don’t want to play their job at an absolute baseline level they can go play with trusts, not make me play their role for them

I don't have a warped view. I have a realistic view. I already said before, this isn't some epidemic in the game. Most players do fine. Tanks mitigate, healers heal, dps do decent dps. Sometimes we get a more pear-shaped party and we have to step up. It doesn't happen often. Sometimes we're thanked. Sometimes we're not. It's rare. So we already do expect mid-level sprouts to play well and they do already play well and this entire thread is pointless posturing and gatekeeping by someone who just isn't fit for doing what's necessary those random times a PUG situation may call for it.

You do have a warped view because

    1) you described support as basically amounting to “do the work of two people to make up for a slacker”
    2) this type of situation is more common than it’s not, cure 1 spammers, DPS who don’t AOE, YPYT, bad players are more common than players who play at any sort of competent Level and just saying “oh it’s fine just do their work for them” every time you encounter them is bad, they should actually learn to play the game

no, if someone not doing the mechanics is permissible than someone doing the mechanics is not "extra work" and honestly i'm beginning to believe the ytyp people don't exist because it's been 5 years and i haven't seen one.

That’s basically the point, someone not doing mechanics shouldn’t be the expectation, this happens way too often

I think YPYT phenomena is more of a DC-specific perks, at least judging from each anecdotes I read of. JP DC has the most YPYT cases than anywhere else. (CMIIW, and above all, take this as grain of salts)

    1) I said support may mean sometimes doing more than what in a perfect world may be our fair share

    2) I haven't seen this on my DC as a PUG healer main and since the OP is presenting a character on my DC and seems to be trying to pass this off as the PUG healer main experience on my DC, then I felt this impression had to be disputed. What you are talking about is the rare exception, the same as those machine-like runs where no one makes mistakes. The majority of PUG runs I encounter are in the middle. I've done this for 8 years on the Aether DC. The OP said they have thousands of dungeons under their belt. I don't know if this is in the healer role or not. I have tens of thousands of dungeons in the PUG healer role under my belt. So trying to advocate that the game or the community implements further restrictions I feel is not supported by valid data. At least for this DC. I make no statements on other DCs. Those who share my experience on other DCs can comment.
