I don't like FFXIV's community

I don't like community. I don't consent people petting my head just cuz I play a Lalafell. I absolutely hate they they keep asking me to be their fishing baits when I come near some fishers. The only time I have some peace is when I retreat to the Lalafell-exclusive houses of Dwarf tribe cuz no race but Lalafell can enter.



They should make an offline version of FF14 like Dragon Quest X offline. Prefer one where I can set every NPC as Lalafell.

1. From the very start of 2.0 I've had people tell me to kill myself or that I should quit. One instance i remember is doing Amdapor Keep for the first time and we all wiped on the last boss cause the Tank rushed in and no one knew the mechanics. Told me directly I should quit and how horrible I was when I asked if we could try again. This was very common behavior in this time period.

2. Poor GMing. You'll have some people catching bans but them you take a look at Balmung shout chat and see people talking about animal genitalia, their mods that give their characters animal genetalia, you can see people in the shout chat talking about other fetishes nonstop all day and people who have done it for years which I won't name but just spend a few seconds there and you'll see some disgusting dialogue being spammed. Even in say chat.

3. People promoting their Discords 24/7 in party finders, shout chats. These same discords dictating content like Eureka nonstop. Making it hard to even get anything done since a Discord decides it wants to control BA and you're not allowed. You have people insta pulling everything so people miss out cause no one cares.

4. Hunts all the years of them getting instapulled and people missing out.

5. From Coils, to Alexander, to Omega, there and so on. Extremes as well and Savages. You'll find more and more unsavory people cursing at each other and they don't get banned. Telling people to quit the game.

6. You got people screaming at novices cause they don't know every mechanic before a fight in a basic 4 man leveling dungeon cause they are so tired of farming tomes they take it out on others.

I'm sorry but this community is not good in any sense of the word nor has it ever been no matter what anyone says.

And with that, I am done with this game. Been here since 1.0 but I'm ready to move on to something else like offline games.

Except...

A.) I do see this happen. Even when going between packs or getting ready for a boss fight, there's plenty of time to put useful advice in chat.

B.) In the end, it depends on what people are interested in doing. If someone has no desire or intention to ever go into Savage or Ultimate content, they don't need to be at the skill level that content requires. As long as what they're doing is sufficient for accomplishing what they want to do, everything is fine.

I'm not saying everybody should playing at savage/ultimate levels, but is using mit semi properly instead of at 10% health in a big pull or just using your basic AoE combo when 10+ mobs are stacked up considered savage/ultimate tech? Like every dungeon run doesn't need to be a 10-15 min speed run but I detest playing any role besides dps due to being stuck in dungeons for 20+ minutes because my group doesn't want to do barely decent gameplay.

Maybe it's related to the server you play on, but my experience with the community has been really positive. I've seen a huge amount of patience for people learning or making mistakes. I see tons of helpful and generous people. I like how lowkey the community (as I've experienced it) is compared to other MMOs I've played, which have been much quicker to anger when mistakes are made and just have a more aggressive tone. I've never had anyone react rudely to me either messing up a mechanic or politely pointing out how a mechanic is supposed to be done when someone else is messing up. In my experience, most people respond positively when you explain nicely how to avoid dying. They don't want to be stuck in the instance dying five times either. As far as that aspect goes, one of the reasons I've gotten so into the game is how great the people are, in my experience. I was really pleasantly surprised.

I do see a ton of spam in major cities, especially limsa. It is annoying, but I guess ultimately not that big of a deal to me. I'm pretty used to major hubs in MMOs being spammed into oblivion. I think it's pretty hard to stop it from happening. Some of those complaints just apply to content I haven't used much, so I can't comment, but overall I actually really like the community -- at least in Jenova.
