I think they were going for a spot, which some cats (primarily tabbies) have on their whiskers.

I'd still be more inclined to believe they just added it because all(?) females, and both Viera, have at least one face with a mole as a facial feature, rather than anything realistic.

Anyway, i've bitched about this too much already. I'll leave you to it.
