Time to Restart Housing Demolition

If you [sic] actual house has been bombed out in an actual war and you're still worried about your FFXIV plot, you probably need to get your priorities straight.

FF14 exists as an escape from real life. It lets you enjoy a role of safety, privilege, and fame when remarkably few of us enjoy all three in real life. For people experiencing the terrors of war, the worst possible kick in the teeth would be to return to their escape, only to find it ripped out from under them as yet another consequence of decisions they didn't get to make.

A better instanced housing system is what is needed. With an instanced system:
- no need for demolition or other methods of taking earned rewards away from players
- no need for a lottery
- no need for timers
- no need for awkward ownership rules about who can own what or what character is eligible to enter for plot relocation

Resuming demolition is still going to leave more players without a house than are able to get one thanks to demolition. It is not a solution.

As for when SE will resume it? Right now my bet is on 7.0. They need players to choose to move to the new worlds getting added over the next year or so. The harder it is to get a house on the existing worlds, the more players will consider a transfer to get a house.

What we know of you comes from the posts you've made since you joined the forums. That is what you end up getting judged by.

If what you write in your posts doesn't accurately reflect the type of person you are, maybe you should write them in a way that reflects the real you.

Spoken like someone who's never met, and certainly never been, a survivor of war or any similar disaster.
Judging from your attitude, odds are you've lived a life free from real want or real suffering,
and accordingly have no clue as to how inconsequential a video game really is.

"Inconsequential", but boy, some people sure are slobbering over others' houses like it matters.

My husband and I still can't return to our home after Hurricane Florence. The damage done was that extensive, and we were some of the fortunate ones in our neighborhood. When we were allowed to return to survey the damage, there was grass growing on our carpets and black mold in the walls. We lost almost everything we didn't have the ability to take with us. We were living out of our car for a while, as the rentals everywhere were full in our area.

This game was a source of solace during all that, but I know ghouls were hoping our housing would be freed up, since the demo timer never was stopped for that hurricane.

So sorry to disappoint.

What's disappointing is you think your experience is comparable to surviving in a war zone.

This lack of perspective and proportion seems a key characteristic of the nastier members of the "keep your house 'til death ... and beyond!" crowd.

I never said it was comparable. Just saying vultures like apparently yourself don't even care if people who have it worse get to come back to something that gives them comfort in this game. You just have to have what they currently can't access through no fault of their own, instead of aiming your complaints at the company, which is the actual problem. What an absolutely sick mindset.

My spouse and I lost a small and a medium to auto-demolition a few years ago, and have no regrets about it.
We have both managed to get houses using the new lottery system.
So your assumption that I have a personal stake in this is just another of your mistakes, and typical of the nastier kinds of arguments from the anti-auto-demo crowd, who try to smear everyone who disagrees them.
