You haven't. But you have to keep in mind that to these people, if you're not kissing and worshiping the ground the dev team walks on, you're a dick. It's not exactly a hard title to earn.
^ This. It's very easy to attack SE the company. It's much harder to attack Yoshi P for his failures, and SE knows that. Yoshi P is very intentionally made to be the face of the game. You have an issue? Well surely you're not implying that it's poor Yoshi's fault, right?I greatly preferred when companies just used PR teams and company name. No one gets mad when you tell them they are bad. But here we have almost quasi religious feel from some of the games fans and dev team. You don't think it isn't intentional to put faces on stuff for the benefit of the company?
The fact that they still haven't fixed Housing is a big reason for why I just don't care about not hurting the developers' feelings with criticism anymore. The devs need to wake up and start fixing the obvious problems in the game. If they do that, people will stop complaining. But instead they cry on livestreams to get white knight players to defend their king Yoshi from the evil 'toxic' criticism. Also let us take one of the constant dislikes in the game, housing. If an employee or team has had a decade to come up with and try to implement a solution, what should happen to person/group. If someone makes simple counting errors that led to stormblood launch problems what do you do? Somethings just come down to greed and that also gets greatly defended by the fan base. What exactly are people suppose to ask so they don't hurt anyone's feelings yet actually convey how utterly disgusted/frustrated with some choices?

Well, I mean, technically yeah. When you have a game played by literally hundreds of thousands of people, you could replace the topic with anything under the sun and the answer would still be the same. In this particular case, though, it's far and away the minority. Most players appreciate Yoshi-P and love what he's done for the game.
The way he asks the players to be nice and not to say nasty things.
It's normal that there are angry players because of the many problems in the game, I think it's ridiculous to cry because some people don't mince their words.
It's borderline threatening if you ever get a little angry at Yoshi and his team
I think it's a total inversion of values, we pay for the game with our money but we have absolutely no rights, we are the ones who should be respectful and grateful even though we are the customers
The customer is no longer the king, the customer is no longer respected and listened to
As someone who's had to work in customer service for over 7 years, let me tell you that customers who believe themselves to be "the king" are by far the most repugnant, obnoxious and difficult people to handle.
It's because of people with an entitled attitude as such that made me develop an off switch. People that I'll forget existed the next day.
You can be a critic, but acting like you have the right to insult or be angry at someone just because you paid them for a service is sad. Downright sad.
"You have a heart of gold. Don't let them take it from you!"
Maybe people just can't stand all the negativity. We have enough in the world. Things aren't perfect, but there's a right and a wrong way to address that fact. You can't just bully your point across and have people be receptive. I look at some of the responses to different items and I don't believe most these people honestly care about what it is they're talking about. They just wanna complain and get in a fight, so they call people dumb and white knight. If the FFXIV community wasn't such a pro-Yoshi P echo chamber in pretty much every social media hub except the Official Forums, maybe people wouldn't feel alone when they stop to ask if the praise is actually warranted. For example, if you go on Reddit, you'll find nothing but praise for the dev team, and any anti-dev post gets downvoted to oblivion.
If you find that question annoying it's most likely because you're on the more popular side of arguments more often than not, never leading you to have to ask that. If you're of the popular opinion, you don't have to look far to find people who agree with you.

What you said is true on some levels, but negativity serves a purpose, and the people trying to shut down all negativity are just as bad, if not worse in some cases. When you don't have negativity, sure it makes some people happy in the short term, but the product we all love ultimately stagnates, decays, then dies. That's the future of this game as it is. Nothing improves because the only thing out there are posts about how great everything is. If you have an issue with the game, you can't express that on places like Reddit without the fear of being downvoted so much that your post never sees the light of day, and it's not unfounded.Maybe people just can't stand all the negativity. We have enough in the world. Things aren't perfect, but there's a right and a wrong way to address that fact. I (mean) look at some of the responses to different items and I don't believe most these people honestly care about what it is they're talking about.
People don't say negative things because they want to see the game crash and burn, they say them because they care. Some of us have noticed serious flaws in the game, and we're pointing them out so they can get fixed. We're telling you that there's a weakness in the Titanic, and we're all on course for a head-on collision with the iceberg, but the crew labels us lunatics and keeps forging ahead.
People are getting sick of being told that their opinion doesn't matter if it's negative or that they're not welcome in the community if they're not overly positive. The toxic positivity crowd has been trying to bully 'negative' people into submission, hoping that if they bully people enough, they'll just leave, and they can have their perfect little utopia. I've seen it happen all over the official forums. I've even seen some people that have gone off the deep end, abandoning all sense of logic in trying to discredit anyone with dissenting opinions, and I can name their usernames. And you want to tell me that the negative people are bullies? Spare me.
If you want an example, a person named Lyth recently tried to rally the forums against two users who they claimed were alts of the same person because the two people shared a similar opinion and were both male Hyur. Why? Because they dared question the story of Endwalker. They dared be dissatisfied with how that story ended the 10 year arc.

that's pretty fucking unhinged.
You make a fair point in saying that people don't need to be negative all the time, and that constantly bashing on the game for every singular flaw is petty and abhorrent.Maybe people just can't stand all the negativity.
BUT the reality is that whenever people point out something that's wrong with the game, it's just as easily shut down and dismissed. Either because people are comfortable with how the game is, because people just don't agree with that it's a flaw in the first place, or just overall make fun of people who point negatives in general.
For real, there was a really tacky Hyur in Paladin Armour that consigned people who complained to Hell (if you're reading this btw, go back to mass). I mean, really? We're being like that now?
There is no balance. It's true that doing nothing but being overwhelmingly negative is more of a hassle than it has to be. But christ, have you SEEN the way people who defend the dev team and the game act? It's all brownie points for a group of people who really couldn't care less that they exist. And it's not a lie at all to say that the game has flaws, be it design flaws, communication flaws or just decisions the devs took. To some people it's a flaw that makes or breaks a piece of content, to others it's nitpicking. But it doesn't make those complaints valid in any way. Yet the moment those people show up, they not only dismiss everything people say, they even go so far as to act as though NOTHING is wrong and that everything they do is enjoyable and perfect.
It really scares some people away from singing the game's honestly valid, existing and good praises. Because all it takes is for you to acknowledge one negative and suddenly people turn against you as if you're hurting Yoshida's feelings and send him death threats.
No, the reality is just that the English Forums are cringe. But we're not dangerous. Japan is the one who went nuts and sent them death threats!

It really does take all kinds, doesn't it? lol
Though I do laugh at the fact I was called scum. Scum is a needed part of the ecosystem so thanks! Feels good knowing I'm needed!![]()
