If you want a real answer: Plants in real life offer way more information visually than the FFXIV engine could ever hope to achieve. You can tell if the soil is bad, if there is too much/not enough water, if there are parasites, if the plant is sick, if the plant is getting the proper sunlight, etc. There's actually a lot more than purple fog in a real plant. You'll live if there's a timer.

I said it once and I'll say it again, stop turning every single system in the game into a baby version or a spreadsheet for convenience's sake. I will die on this hill. lol
