Corvos will be another region-as-dungeon. We need to focus on the important things now, like bringing pots of Thavnairian Oil to Godbert to make our relics. Not for the weapons themselves, just to grease him up so he can work.

Maybe I'm reading this wrong but why do we need story that correlate to real world events? Do we really need a Russian attack story or covid in xiv? (Again may not be understanding you but this is how it seems)

Follow-up on this, I got this duty in trial roulette last night, got a 98 again, and finally won the barding.

Should I let this one go?

I won't grill you to a crisp. I'm not a historian, and even when I was in school, they don't really teach these kind of things and you have to actively seek them out. The brutal facts and casualties of war only continued to detract from public education as time has passed. I also have no idea how such concepts are taught in the schools of previous warring nations that had their arses handed to them by the U.S. and allied forces.

Anywho, with that said, the parallels between Ilsabard, Garlemald and historic conquering nations are anything but few and far between. There really isn't even much point identifying which events in the game can be traced to factual historic events because nearly all of them do, and I do mean everything. The hostile takeovers, rumors of demonic possession, concepts of a master race, inhabitation of areas with nearly inhospitable climate conditions granting inhuman strength and toughness, lack of resources bringing about technological advancements, suicides, internal conflicts leading to civil war; it's all there. These can all lead back to things like NAZI Germany, the Soviet Union and the Cold War, The American Civil War, various revolutions, and even the promise of sanctuary at the cost of surrender. "Give up your arms, and we will begin tending to the wounded, and allow you to burry your dead." There's likely so much more that I haven't realized yet.

The FF franchise isn't exactly known for its originality. They quite often take known concepts that are historic, biblical, and fictional and put their own spin on it. Fans such as yourself have learned a lot about the history of mankind without even knowing it.

Someone in a different thread made a theory that the role capstone quests for Endwalker were changed because of real world events and it could have been something different. It's possible, but unlikely, considering the development time required between events and when the patch released, including time from when events started to deciding to enact and plan a change. During 1.0 they did postpone Titan to ARR due to the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami but that's much more understandable since it was a disaster that killed thousands and hit the country the game is made in and at the time probably made up the biggest player demographic.

If that poster is referring to Dalmasca being "canned", Matsuno mentioned that there was a plan to go to Dalmasca after Bozja but that was cancelled. He made an addendum to that tweet and pointed out that in an interview he had last year, he said that he's tired of war stories and the players are probably tired of war stories and he didn't want another war story with Dalmasca.

When I think about the feelings of today's FFXIV players, I felt that a war story would be received differently. There are several reasons for this. One is the current world situation. The world has become more insular due to the Corona pandemic, people are fighting each other on the internet, and in general, people are more divided, so it is not a pleasant world. In the midst of all this, one wonders what it would be like to impose even more stress on players in the form of a war story.
I don't know of any mention of potential Ilsabard stories. Almost all we know of Ilsabard comes from the Bozja storyline field notes, but there was never any promise either in-game or by developers of us doing stuff there. Landis seems like a neat concept since like Dalmasca it was a full country, not a city-state, and had multiple cities with their own unique themes (before the Garleans killed all the mages there). The industrial Landis city seemed happy or at least peaceful under Garlean rule, which makes sense, so there might be a story there. It would also be neat to visit Werlyt after Gaius has been taking care of things and to find out when exactly the Au Ra of southern Ilsabard came into the region because a Terncliff NPC mentioned something about them being semi-recent newcomers but they already have names that reflect the Hyur of the region.

As far as Corvos goes since people have been mentioning it in this thread, I don't think there's much of a story left to tell there. Role quest spoilers:
The Corvosi rebelled, possibly at the same time as the rebellions going off all across the empire, but the rebellion was quelled until the Final Days and the Garleans were overrun by blasphemies with the Garlean survivors running back to Garlemald. Considering that even the survivors mention the inhabitants still there, the Corvosi weren't wiped out by the Final Days and seemingly liberated themselves. Fourchenalt says that sending Garleans back would start tensions up again and at this point Garlemald is too weak to do anything about it anyway.

Can't tell war stories, can't have stories that deal with any kind of plague, gotta stick to memes and haha funny moments or moralizing about grandiose themes. If something happens in the world, cancel trailers and rewrite whole scripts. Got it.

Anyway, since this game is straving for content and most if not all of what will launch with 6.2 will be done and over with in a matter of days (can't overwhelm the players, am I right?), I'm looking forward to when Diofield Chronicle releases along with whenever the Tactics Ogre remaster happens. Enjoy your Hildibrand relics.

I will be off playing the stuff that I originally came to this game for instead of what it's fast becoming. Can't wait for the 8.0 relics to be tied to Moogle Delivery quests or to some Diner-Dash mode minigame that takes place at the Sharlayan burger joint.
