That's why some people make their own closed FC: to use the FC chest for storage and to share itens through their chars.
But, I think this is wrong. Imagine if 50% of the players that invest their time, money and effort inside game to craft make their FC for that... we would have 1 billion "solo FC" xD And this could exclude the newcomer to the game who want to craft. "So, do I need to have more chars just for that?". This is a bit silly and a waste of time.
If they implement an inventory just for baits/gathered materials this would reduce significantly the necessity of measures like this. Also, this could encourage more people to try gathering/crafting out.
You don't need to open this "new dedicated inventory" all the time. It's more like for consulting: "how many of those I have in order to make this piece of gear that I want?" Someone that is a crafter even wouldn't need to open such inventory if in their recipe already show how many he got in his dedicated inventory.
In resume: an inventory to receive your gathered stuff. Nothing else. Those materials will be used for craftings, if you do craftings. Or you can sell them in your rentainers. If you not dedicate yourself to the gathering, so the inventory will never bother you, but it will be there "just in case".
Not everyone trust their FC compatriots. And not everyone even enter a FC to begin with... '-'
And, what type of itens could go to this inventory?
All that is tagged as a recipe material. Simple.
So, gathered stuff, itens from and for housing, etc etc could go to it.
This could even facilitate for the player telling him what itens can be or not used in a craft (by looking to which inventory the item goes).
