But with the game down I can't double-check that.

Though that doesn't mean he didn't also use it that way.
This is correct. It was explained that
before expunging their existence, they would try memory wipes on creations first, just in case it was an environmental cause of trainer trauma or the like.

One thing that interests me is Fourchenault's statement during the final role quest series ('Frozen Hope') that Locus Amoenus has previously been known by other names in the past. Locus Amoenus (literally 'the pleasant place') was a term used in Classical Greek literature to describe idyllic pastoral scenes with meadows and running water. There are many such 'loci' that pop up in Greek literature, but one of better known ones is Arcadia, which is close enough to be a reference to FFXII's Archadia. Given Corvos' proximity to Dalmasca, I can't help but wonder if Corvos, Dalmasca, and Thavnair are meant to reference the FFXII world map (albeit the mirror image of it).

I'm a bit saddened because nothing I HC will ever reach the same level of f'ed up weirdness that is the black shroud.

    Honey from spiders

    I repeat

    honey from S P I D E R S

    BUT

    here it goes

Kan-E-Senna is adept at bringing back people from the aertherflow because she has had a few "whoops I rode you to death" accidents and had to solve it quickly.

You might want to double-check your sources (as it were) on that. Honey only comes from hornets, as far as I'm aware.

Not that hornets really produce honey either, but considerably closer than spiders.

I'm starting to question if there's some kind of "planetary memory" where the memories of all things that have existed on Etheriys go after they return to the lifestream, be they conventional living things possessed of souls or constructs like primals.

It's been mentioned that primals somehow retain their memories between summonings, so it would stand to reason that they are not being entirely dispersed and their memories are going somewhere to be stored until the next time they're called forth..

An optional book from the 6.1 MSQ ponders over the notion of whether or not a primal summoned with the intent of being a repository of the world's knowledge could actually manage such a feat, and further questions where it would be drawing that knowledge from, which is what made me entertain the idea.

There was also the strange incident of the failed re-summoning of King Thordan in the Endwalker caster role quest that somehow resulted in a mortal body being infused with the memories of the entire Heavens' Ward but remaining otherwise unchanged, which has...troubling implications.

Unless they're mistaking aphid for arachnid... I didn't see anything about spiders

As Rannie suggested above, you seem to be confusing aphids (sap-sucking insects) for arachnids.

Also, I was just going to link to the Wikipedia article on aphids, but after trailing across a few pages it turns out that honeydew honey is a specific real-world thing itself. The game item description is accurate.

Ah yes, I remember now (I just clarified it with screenshots.). Thank you both for that clarification.

Still, that might have just been
the cover story he gave to avoid scrutiny from the authorities. After all, Emet immediately raised suspicions about it's very existence when Hermes first mentioned it offhandedly, and didn't seem to buy it, so it's clearly not something expected to exist in Ancient society, certainly not something the Convocation expected existed, even in a research facility like Elpis. And Hermes was such a emotional train wreck, he may have very well originally conceived it as a way of dealing with his mental issues
(once again returning to the underlying theme of EW that it's better to face your problems head on and remain resolute to despair rather than giving into it by living in the past or running away from it). But I digress.

Once again, thanks for that clarification.
