Hildibrand for relic? Really?

The issue with tying the relic weapons to something as silly as The Gold Saucer is exactly that. These weapons are supposed to be cool, legendary, stunning, the height of whatever you believe a cool weapon should be, and yet as someone else stated chances are we'll be getting something like paper planes for Sage, so on and so forth.

i really don't see the reason why people think a legendary blacksmith that so far allways delivered on epicness factor of weapons paired with the greatest goldsmith in the land that has shown to be perfectly capable of producing normal looking artisinal pieces would hand us some gaudy joke weapon as anything but maybe some early stage joke stuff, especially as square is well aware that the long term value of these weapons is for glamour.

also on people arguing on the seriousness of the quests themselves i have to wonder if they ever paid attention to the other relic weapons.

aside from shadowbringers gunnhildr stuff literally half the questlines were repeated "look at that bald bum gerold, he is so fucking broke and a complete drunkard" jokes. oh and he is soooo fearfull of rowena, lets laugh a bit more about him. heck, arr relics in particular was the culmination of two drunkards working together and among other things dipping the freaking thing into rum.

aside from shadowbringers gunnhildr stuff literally half the questlines were repeated "look at that bald bum gerold, he is so fucking broke and a complete drunkard" jokes. oh and he is soooo fearfull of rowena, lets laugh a bit more about him. heck, arr relics in particular was the culmination of two drunkards working together and among other things dipping the freaking thing into rum.

I don't thnk there's anything laughable about that, it's more a pathetic and sad story. He's a drunkard and a money waster, she's a money-addict who also somehow still loves him. It's more a tragic story than comedic imho.
But then there's this cultural thing of drunk=funny which I'll never understand.

Which is, I guess, why I find neither funny. But the rowena vs Gerolt is just small snippets in bigger storylines, while the Hildibrand arc is a whole long quest arc spanning multiple expansions, marked as comedic, and supposedly "self-contained'. You can gloss over a few scenes of G&R being whatever, hard to glos over that type of humor for the whole Hildi line. The only sane thing you can do if you don't find it funny is skip.

I've done all of the relic quests aside from ARR as it was too much of a grind for me when the game first started, eventually ill double back and finish my PLD relic. With that being said, most of the relic quests do involve the SIDE story of working with Gerolt to make the weapon and laughing at him but the MAIN story being told is always within the zones we got.

Eureka followed the Island of Val and finding out what happened to it, bozja we're helping fight the war and reclaim land. I can't remember what the old diadem was like anymore but even HW relic hardly takes up any comedic tones besides whatever interactions with Gerolt.

See the difference? The comedy and jokes and light hearted moments were saved for those small moments. The fear here is that by tying the relics to the gold saucer and Hildebrand, that the comedy and jokes will now become the central theme of everything involving the weapon. Hence why people think we'll be getting joke weapons.

Beyond that it is just in bad taste to force people to double back and complete quests they never wanted to do in the first place. I get that the dev team spent time and money making these quests and tried their best to meet fan demand by bringing Hilde back, but forcing people to do his stuff now is not the way to go. Especially when it culminates to "if you don't like it then skip it", I'm pretty sure no one on the dev team was working with that mindset in mind so I have to wonder why would they do this knowing the backlash they'd get. They were literally laughing when making the announcement, pretty clear to me they knew how reactions would turn out.

And with all of that out of the way I'll state my biased opinion which is: its crazy to me that people are complaining about Bozja and Eureka of all things, they're both (Bozja not so much) fun zones and provide you with a new style of game play. It's one of the few pieces of content that break off from the stale state that the game is in right now and it even provides you big gil payouts. From everyone I've ever helped through Eureka and Bozja, they've loved it. Personally it just sounds to me that the players who "didn't enjoy" Eureka/Bozja are just players that never actually tried to get through it because of how daunting it all seems. Try again, they're both very engaging and more fun than 80% of the content we have in the game.

Why is it tied to the Gold Saucer? Just because Godbert will probably be in it? They could make joke weapons but they could also simply make another set of normal weapons too. Lets just wait until we see them and if they are then joke weapons one can still complain.

Maybe the story will be mostly serious with a bit of humor sprinkled in. We have no idea in this case and honestly should wait until we have done it. Then jugde it.

For Bozja you too were forced to do Ivalice. Group content with many cutscenes that some might not have wanted to do. At least with Hildebrand you can do it mostly alone (most of the trials there can be soloed) and can skip a huge amount of it. You cant skip the Ivalice raids if you want to do Bozja. You have to run the raids. Yet now its suddenly so bad?

Not only that but if you simply dislike Eureka (and Eureka was hated a lot on the forums in the past. It exploded when that content came out) then you are bascially out of luck with the whole relic questline. And with Bozja there seems to be a problem with people doing it later because certain instances are not done much often.

Maybe we finally get another relic quest that we can do with a whole variety of content and that might still be doable expansions down the line.

And about your point about liking the content: Sorry I have tried Eureka and hated it. Its an absolute boring grind which I never finished. Bozja was a bit better and I did finish one relic but I was quite happy to be done with it. (It also helped that you could get a lot of stuff outside of Bozja). People who like it have a huge amount of zones and grind to do it. Now it might be time for others to get their way of grinding. Not every expansion relic have to be Eureka or Bozja-like.

Yeah honestly, I'm biased here because I love the Hildibrand quests, but I am soooo tired of every quest just ragging on Geralt for being drunk and useless when he's not being a brilliant crafter and having a crush on Rowena who clearly cares about him but like ughhh I like the characters but the humor just is not even a little bit funny to me anymore, I'd literally rather see Gerolt get his crap together as an entire plotline than deal with one more crappy joke at his expense at this point. Hildy's quests are absurd and ridiculous but they're infinitely more fun for me than that.
