First and foremost, I like customizing my character the most, and making glamour (outfits) for her. While I wish there was more to do (lasting content), and leaving things like how Bozja is designed out, I like how I can drop in at any point and not feel too bad about it. Like I have said before, I am actually quite the casual. When I try to play other games that require a long term investment, and constant play, I get burned out to the point I never want to play these games again. Not to mention the immense amount of fomo mechanics many of these other games have, instead of making me want to stay invested in these games, I realize I won't be able to keep up unless I make them my life (or spend a lot of money), so that also factors into me never wanting to play them again.

FFXIV is the one game I have played mostly regularly for five and a half years, so far. I think a good way to describe this game to me, is it is a "comfort" for me. I feel comfortable just logging in and relaxing. AFKing on my front lawn or inside my Inn room. Just doing whatever.

I think this is a major thing that pushed me out of WoW. Like I am still happy to talk about things I liked, and sometimes point out things I hope we can pilfer lol, but I felt compelled to do stuff or be put in a bad position... Which in and of itself that puts me in a bad position.. I don't like feeling compelled to 'have fun'.

I /really/ appreciate that part in FFXIV, though certainly not the only thing.

I just like the fact that there is so much to do. I can change up whenever I like be it job or activity. Yesterday I worked on crafting all day, the week before I was questing, today I mucked around with soloing POTD. Always something else to do and none of it feels like required work.

You're seeing more complaint threads lately not because they can't please everyone but because they're pleasing less and less people who care about this game. That is an important distinction. I'll adapt to bad changes but that doesn't mean I'll like em or take em, and you're more than welcome to voice an opinion too, positive or negative, when they change your job.

Regarding the topic, what I like most about this game atm is raiding ultimates. It's a fun challenge to overcome with friends and things like golden Bahamut still makes me shiver with excitement just thinking about it lol. They really got that epic feel right with ultimate content, with how the music syncs with different mechanics!
And I've growned to like the lore of XIV and looking deeper into it. I need to get my hands on Encyclopaedia Eorzea...

You're seeing more complaint threads lately from the same tiny fraction of a tiny part of one percent of the population.
    ..is a better answer.

Yes, I too love burying my head in the sand. The Sagolii desert is a good place for that.

WORLD BUILDING AND LORE. I'm a sucker for games that give me lore and world building and dear god the conlangs that are in here.... chefs kiss.

The fact that I can have all jobs on one character and not locked to a race/gender or just one job per character is nice too. I still have alts and all, because I do the rp thing occasionally and I do like having some variety. I don't like the occasionally creepy /tells I've gotten though... lol.

At least on Balmung/Crystal, the worlds are pretty alive and I love having that. It IS kinda weird going into the Quicksands on other servers and having it empty though haha. But having things happening, FC events, etc. make the world seem more lively. Peoplewatching or just watching shout chat in Ul'dah is always fun. The s[kupo]tposters in shout can be entertaining.

The music. The music is always killer. The sound team is great and I'm really looking forward to FF16's music, too!

The thing I like that I wish would be improved though is character creation - good but could be better, hoping when they expand things that will also get an overhaul. It got a pretty big overhaul from 1.0 to 2.0, so hopefully they'll be looking into that come 7.0 to go along with the overhauled graphics

The music. Excluding night themes of outside areas which are pretty creatively bankrupt and Endwalker's hub music.

It used to be dungeons and job design. But job design stopped getting me engaged after Stormblood. And dungeons became dull chores when they stopped giving them distinct features.

Used to like the lore too, but Endwalker crapped all over it with its horrendous explanations to loose ends.

I guess my favorite bits of the game are ARR areas and MSQ pre 5.3.
