Strangely, crafting for housing items. I'd never have imagine myself enjoying that had I not gotten a plot.

The immense amount of content in-game. I know to any veterans it means nothing during in-between patches, but for me there's always something to chase after. It's at that point where I have my own strategy for leveling up alt characters because of how much there is to do on my main.
The story. It lives up to the FF name. Equal parts hilarity, solemn, and heartfelt.
The music. Again, top-notch FF quality. The boss fights especially, which in many games are more generic-sounding music. I love how each Trial has its own theme.
The community. I've been playing on-and-off starting in 2015, and more steadily probably starting in around 2018 or 2019, and I can still count on one hand the number of truly toxic people I've come across. There's actually chatter and a fun feel to doing stuff in groups.
Being able to play all toons on one class. I always like having a DPS, a healer, and a tank toon. It's awesome being able to do that on one character instead of having to play through the same exact storyline multiple times.
The huge variety of things to do. I love going for achievements. I still have a laundry list to do that I'm looking forward to completing, and likely enjoying every moment of it![]()
Hrothgar and Roe only ERP events.
the music visuals and the fact i could swap jobs on the fly. as someone who tends to play every role in team based games being able to just hotswap to every role was definitely a big thing. same with the music and visuals even for an old game the visuals still hold up. and the music can just be *chefs kiss* sometimes but overall extremely good
and ik people are gonna hate this but i looked into older gameplay to see what leveling might be like and i absolutely loved the idea of stance dancing and different damage types. also having unique combat with stuff like prepull stoneskin II and things that we still have even today (thankfully) like with warriors self mit granting him return damage when hit.
A constant, predictable influx of content that usually improves in quality (albeit not quantity). I also like the fact that the dev team communicates often, although they sure like talking more than they like listening.
The music and visuals are nice too but I would've stopped playing a long time ago if I didn't know what we were gonna get and when.
No game is perfect, nor will any game ever be perfect.
Despite its many flaws, FFXIV is genuinely a fun game, I love the new PvP, Im ever excited to see where the Story/MSQ is going, cant wait for the many new things being brought to the game.
Ive been playing it for nearly a Decade and had an addiction to it for 6 years. Didnt play ANY other game. (Well thats a lie, I played a couple other games, but none of them as long as FFXIV) The controller Tailored experience, and the 'Master of All' ability to play every Job on 1 character is something special to me.
And Hildebrand
And The Music.
And...as said above me, I like knowing what to expect.
Environments, music, art, story, job system (don't think I want to play another mmo that doesn't have either an insanely friendly alt system or a job system), Final Fantasy characteristics (love me chocobos, moogles, job themes, etc but that really goes back into the first group of answers).
I like that I can expect to enjoy most content in the style I'd like if I'm simply patient- understanding that some players like grind and like less time friendly ideas but it doesn't have to remain that way, limited to no FOMO, no loot boxes, etc. I do think they listen though their communication is sometimes not apparent and not always quick (for whatever reason- as each situation would obviously mean something differently, to me it appears Yoshida is a big planner which is why they tend to have such consistency- so I imagine a lot of stuff might be heard and then set into the schedule like FIFO). Which isn't to say I'm telling people not to be upset or whatever, as I imagine some people read that in that way.
I enjoy decorating houses, dressing up, chatting with people and crafting. Also looking at the scenery.
The combat is kinda ass for me(partly because I'm from Brazil and my ping is shit; it often feels like the very opposite of fluid and responsive) except on some instances, and I barely do savage because I finished MSQ in April so way too late to enjoy the tier. I had fun on what I've done on that regard, though, so I'll probably try again.

MSQ, sidequests, hunting, speedrunning dungeons, raids, learning all classes, doing all the content the game has to offfer to collect mounts and pvp.
In other news, there is no technical debt from 1.0.
"We don't have ... a technological issue that was carried over from 1.0, because ARR was meant to kind of discard what we had from 1.0 and rebuild it from the engine."
