Hildibrand for relic? Really?

There are 4 duties, 3 dungeons and 1 trial, you need to do to finish the current quest line. I'm personally hoping we get another this go around along with emotes and a dance. 3 of those dungeons you can solo unsync. The trial you need 3 given there is a chaining mechanic that binds 2 players.

I don't know. In my eyes, I think SE should really evaluate whether or not to work on content they feel they need to merge with a relic questline in order to get players to do it. I mean they continue to work on things like this when things like instanced housing, deep dungeons, and reducing bots are among the highest in demand.

Besides, how can you truly know which players truly enjoy the Hildabrand questline when you make it a requirement for something they do actually want? Do you want to force content down our throats, or actually give players the ability to choose which content they go into?

It seems a bit odd how little faith they seem to have in the own content and how desperate they seem to railroad people into content

My main issue is, they know a lot (or at least a reasonable amount) of people don't like Hildibrand, given that they took the step of not locking trials behind it (admittedly they removed that because if people don't want to do it they probably don't care about the trial) so then if they know that people really don't like it (I for one can't stand that kind of "humour") so to force that on people, regardless of cutscene skipping, just seems like a dick move to me.

First off, welcome to the forums!

Second off, I don't think anyone is being forced to do anything. All relics have always been optional content and this is no different. No one actually enjoyed farming light either in ARR and HW but people did it anyway and they took the feedback and changed it. Then Eureka and Bozja offered different experiences, but people had a lot to say about those too and now they're taking a different approach. I for one took long breaks from the game in the middle of Eureka and Bozja and unlike ARR and HW's relic quests, I felt like there wasn't a good enough catch-up mechanic and I'd struggle getting those done without a dedicated FC or Discord so I haven't finished those yet.

I think we should wait until we know more before making reactionary posts to the forums since the decision has already been made at this point. If it genuinely sucks then I think the feedback will be more important since it will be coming from a larger amount of people.

But I do think it's funny that people comparing elements of the EW MSQ to Hildibrand don't seem to have even done Hildibrand...

actually its not just a me problem, it may not be a you problem, but it is a lot of people problem, I didn't say no one likes it I said a lot of people don't which the developers know.

its still 4 trials, there are no hildi dungeons.

The thing about not locking trials behind it was for the HW and SB (at first) ones, because there were complaints about that, but then there were MORE complaints when they disappeared, so they gave us the 70 one.

What a great decision. Hildibrand is some of the games best content, and judging by this thread, it's obvious there are many who need to have their hand forced a bit.

If you're going to skip it, it would be easier just not to do it.

If you want to eat an apple, why would you buy an apple packed in 16 layers of gift paper?

same reason people did the ivalice raids for the shb relics, you can argue that you would prefer your apple without the 16 layers of gift wrapper, but that is whats offered and you can take it or leave it. honestly i don't see the need to tie it into the hildibrand quests either but really, just skip through it, its not nearly as bad as people make it out to be, skipping and blizzing through hildibrand probably will take half as long as the easiest actual relic step.

I agree. I ran that content on several of my alts recently. It's not that bad if you're doing it for one character. In addition you get 2 dances/emotes and a glamour outfit. It's worth doing just for the rewards.

Dont like, then dont do, its that simple! Unlike Bozja or Eureka that had a lot more rewards tied to it, this sounds like its a purely quest driven one and likely to have just the relic going for it.

The questline isn't that long lol, it takes 1 or 2 days to complete.
I'm curious what the grind will be this time, if there is one at all, maybe Gold Saucer farm? That would be weird but would fit thematically.
