This was low key fun aside from losing a bit of my sanity, I liked how people showed up playing music, talking with each other, making friends. Its way better then the lottery.

I would also add that just because an FC is new doesn't mean it's a shell. There is no point in trying to create a new FC from nothing if you can't get a house for it. Half of the benefits of being in a free company are tied to a house. No one is going to join an "FC looking for members, we have a bank and buffs". While it may seem like people abandoned their formers FCs to create shells for the purpose of getting a house, many of them could have been thinking about it for some time but the lack of housing has made it difficult.

Completely agree. When I made the decision to jump ship and make my own FC, it was because new wards were coming. I created the FC and worked with others we had at the time to get it ranked up and ready. We probably still would have jumped ship from where we were anyway, but housing availability definitely was a factor in the timing.

I wouldn't say the system works fine.

On the other hand, the suggestion you quote won't make it work any better or solve anything.
