A) Please cite your source. Thanks.A.) Not true. Active US players are estimated at about 279k. Japan is 242k and Europe 125k. The USA is the largest single group, but not really close to "all other regions combined."
B.) Not everyone in the US has July 4th off, anyway. Most government jobs are off, but many local and private businesses are still open, and even public jobs like police, fire, etc. are on the job.
C.) Nothing lasts forever. But FFXIV right now is at one of its peaks, and hundreds of thousands of people are enjoying it
Yea they should just delay the patch by a week for the americans, I'm sure nobody would mind.
Ah yes cause the US and their holidays are the only ones that matter!
And maybe you try to celebrate your independence on that day rather than your dependence on the game. xD
You know, I believe we can petition Square Enix about this. How about this for everyone to sign?I'm sure there are others, but the only American studio game I can think of that can compare to my point would be Blizzard/WOW. And yes, I would advocate it would be better customer service if they didn't do a 24 hour maintenance on a day corresponding to a major holiday in the regions they provide service. To be clear, I'm not saying every holiday, but the big ones, if you are providing a service in a region, would be best to avoid.
"We, the undersigned, demand that any maintenance to the North American servers be delayed if they are scheduled to occur on a Major US Holiday. We are more than willing to allow the Rest of the World to have a new patch a week before we do in order to accommodate the small number of players in North America who are upset about holiday patch cycles."
When you deal with human beings, never count on logic or consistency.
Fluid like water. Smooth like silk. Pepperoni like pizza.

You're welcome
Oh, and that's ignoring what other people have brought up about how the "USA" servers include a sizable number of people from Canada and the entirety of South America, meaning the actual "American" population is even significantly smaller in comparison.
