Holidays ?
Ah, again one of those thread where the OP think they're the center of the world, and don't realize an international game can't satisfy everybody in this aspect ?

That treats anyone who is not American as a second or third class customer. Yet another example of why SE wont follow Blizzard's endless litany of failures.

Well looking at those numbers SE is right to stick to 4 july for maintenance. Japanese and European data centre together trump "america".Just curious, but where did you get your numbers? According to https://ffxivcensus.com/
Worldwide: 26,182,117
America: 12,701,623 (48.51%)
Japan: 5,532,619 (21.13%)
Europe: 7,797,475 (29.78%)
But the americqn server isnt just players from the USA but also players from Canada all the way down to Argentina
All of tbem prop indifferent to the 4 july date.

Man, what's with all the judgy in this thread with how people want to spend their time on a holiday? Some people aren't barbecue and fireworks people. I look forward to spending a day in XIV on holidays since I can spend the entire day on it. I'm not crying about this one. I'll just play something else. But the point of a holiday is we all get to enjoy it in the way we want to, so I don't understand all the judgment about how someone else spends their time.
It's not that and more just Americans are once again acting as if they are the centre of the universe and everyone must cater to them, their whims and their timetables.Man, what's with all the judgy in this thread with how people want to spend their time on a holiday? Does maintenance on the 4th of July suck? I mean... yes, if you're an American. But Americans aren't the only people who play FFXIV. It's a Japanese-made game with an international audience and that's the keyword here: International. Whether it be an online service or traveling abroad it seems like no matter what there is an American ready to just say "Okay that's nice and all but what about me."
It is genuinely frustrating and this thread really encapsulates the exact attitude that so many people who live outside the United States feel utterly exasperated by at this point. It's just so... Veruca Salt from Willy Wonka, y'know?

America is by far the largest region in FFXIV. The American playerbase is 50% larger than the Japanese and almost as large as all other regions combined.
But perhaps this game wasn’t made for us. It’s okay, we have other options! Nothing lasts forever.

A.) Not true. Active US players are estimated at about 279k. Japan is 242k and Europe 125k. The USA is the largest single group, but not really close to "all other regions combined."
B.) Not everyone in the US has July 4th off, anyway. Most government jobs are off, but many local and private businesses are still open, and even public jobs like police, fire, etc. are on the job.
C.) Nothing lasts forever. But FFXIV right now is at one of its peaks, and hundreds of thousands of people are enjoying it![]()
