July 4th 24 hr Maintenance

SE always (with a few exceptions) has their patch maintenance end on a Tuesday. This means that 24hr ones will start early Monday. It's just how they operate. They aren't gonna move around their preplanned maintenance days because some other country has a holiday that day.

Eh, it sucks, but it's just the way timing works sometimes. The only holidays that ever effect their patch schedule are Japanese holidays since their workers would be celebrating.

Not a major holiday. 1 Country celebrates it. One. Not a major holiday. Not even close. Also, I suggest you check the numbers on the majority of where this game is played in a single country. It isn't the US. Surprise!

You are right, it is a holiday specific to one country. However, this is also true of most secular Holidays.

I'm not sure how you are defining a major holiday. Since I never defined it, I can see why maybe this would cause confusion. So for the point I'm trying to make, I'd define a major holiday as a national holiday where the majority of people in that nation are likely to be home from school, work, and etc. I know it's an offensive and close-minded position, but I still think if you are operating a service in different regions then the best customer service practice would be to consider these holidays and not take your service down for 24 hours on such days.

I can't be bothered to actually do the math but i would be curious to know how many tuesdays a year would be without any interference of onecountry's national holliday.
Worst part these would change each year.

For example, they might prefer to have a patch come up July 5 instead of July 4th just to avoid the massive load on the newly-patched possibly-buggy game that would accompany new content being released on everyone's day off.

And given that this is scheduled maintenance, they couldn't adopt a more customer-friendly practice of not scheduling them on a day that coincides with a big holiday for a large portion of their player base? Hardly the first time they've done this, and won't be the last I'm sure. But clearly, I'm the jerk for calling them out on this.

Uncool addition to my "quote" as I think I've made it quite clear that I'm down for them not pushing a 24 hr maintenance on a major holiday of any part of their service region.

As for the rest, wouldn't scheduling the week after accomplish the same thing?
