Especially since your character is able to switch between every job. There's no lore/whatever excuse like in other MMOs where you character is locked to a single class.

Role gear (ie fending/striking/casting) on the other hand, carries no job identity so the restrictions feel really arbitrary. Furthermore, there's not much reason to believe its like that because of the way its coded and even if it is, it could be changed.
