Actual fear is real."Fear isn't real, its all in your head." Of course FOMO is all in your head. That's what FOMO is! Fear of missing out. Fear. It's psychological manipulation. In your head. That's what battle passes are designed to do. FOMO you into playing.
No you don't have to have everything, but the manipulation tactics wouldn't be in place if they didn't prove themselves to work very well across large swaths of the communities that experience them.
FOMO is nonsense.

Thank you for confirming that you are immune to such tactics, and that you are too narrow-minded to conceive that other people enjoy different aspects of the game or just have different mindsets than you.
Because fuck people who like collecting things amiright? We should all just bow down to your superior mindset and stop having wrongfun.
FOMO design benefits no one and is detrimental to many people. There's just no reason for it. Just because you, oh god-king of restraint, are not hurt by it doesn't mean others aren't.
Your entire post was comical. I needed the laugh, thanks.Thank you for confirming that you are immune to such tactics, and that you are too narrow-minded to conceive that other people enjoy different aspects of the game or just have different mindsets than you.

But all you've said is nothing of value. All you've essentially said is "nu'uh I'm right, it's not a thing" and left it at that. Your arrogance is just silly.
I'm curious on an explanation as to why you think FOMO isn't real. It's a complex set of emotional responses that have been witnessed for decades now and used heavily in very successful marketing campaigns the world over. How is it nonsense anymore than any other emotional response? How is it any less of a valid consideration?
I would recommend those people talk to a therapist about their issues rather than continuing to force themselves to engage in activities they greatly dislike, over imaginary items with no real or perceived value. Ransu is being a dick about it, but their core point isn't incorrect.Thank you for confirming that you are immune to such tactics, and that you are too narrow-minded to conceive that other people enjoy different aspects of the game or just have different mindsets than you.

FOMO isn't real. And if people are forcing themselves to engage in activities that they find distasteful or unenjoyable in the pursuit of FOMO... dude, that's something you should talk with a therapist about, because that is *not* behavior people who are of sound emotional health engage in. It's *okay* to go "no, this isn't for me." You do not have to collect everything.

Thing is, I DO enjoy PvP. I actually enjoy CC quite a bit, but FOMO makes me enjoy it less. (And, yes it is real. It's a real thing that some scumbag developers design to exploit)I would recommend those people talk to a therapist about their issues rather than continuing to force themselves to engage in activities they greatly dislike, over imaginary items with no real or perceived value. But fundamentally your argument is backwards. I DO enjoy collecting things, that's what I enjoy in this game. So when some cool mount is dangled forever out of my reach, because I wasn't quick enough to PvP... like the magitek chairs from the Feast that were gone before I started on PvP in this game, it's frustrating and annoying, despite finding the PvP fun itself. My enjoyment is lessened because of the design.
Yeah, you shouldn't force yourself to do things you don't like because of FOMO. But that means that people who legitimately do enjoy the collectable aspect of things are locked out of part of what they find enjoyable about the game, for the benefit of... who exactly?
Sounds like a you problem to me.Thing is, I DO enjoy PvP. I actually enjoy CC quite a bit, but FOMO makes me enjoy it less. (And, yes it is real. It's a real thing that some scumbag developers design to exploit)

Oh wow, a personal grievance on a forum where you can air your grievances, about what I find makes things less fun in a thread specifically asking if you're having fun in PvP and why.
I've made such a grave mistake whatever will I dooooo.
Like I said before, this is a thing that makes the game less fun for some people (like me) and doesn't affect other people (like you). So... your opinion about it is more or less irrelevant.
