After re-reading this thread, I think I'm gonna have to add some people to ignore. Might as well before they decide to target me, if this is how they treat people like the OP.

It's one thing to have an opinion that's different from others. It's another to berate, belittle, and insult someone and resort to name-calling right off the bat just because you don't like theirs. We are encouraged to come here to share our feedback with the devs. I'm sorry you don't like seeing it, but you can at least be civil. If you can't do that, I don't have the time or patience to talk to you. One can have a discussion without resorting to the aforementioned turn-offs...

Sheesh, what's wrong with just speaking out to Square Enix and wanting a healthy discussion on the housing situation.

Lodestone will have this info, it's how I found that my own server is flooded with dead/shell FC's.

That being said, "Setting up a Free Company for the explicit intention of purchasing a personal house in a Free Company ward is a violation of the ToS" and "Owning more than one service account for the purposes of circumventing the one per service account restriction on housing is a violation of the ToS, and will result in the permanent suspension of all service accounts involved".

Yeah, I'd definitely say these shell fcs fall under the first point you mention.

Where in the ToS does it even say something like that, though? I see nothing regarding shell FCs, so I'm curious why the other person would spread misinformation like that.

It doesn't. It's a bit strange why that person put it in quotes without explaining why they were doing so. I think they were trying to give an example of what they wished SE would say.

However, those quotes are clearly not official communication from the dev team in any shape or form. You can tell by the language surrounding owning more than one service account. Not only is it perfectly fine to own more than one service account from SE's point of view, it's probably encouraged.

I had a feeling that was a possibility of what they were going for. Their wording is pretty misleading, and they might want to consider changing it to make it more clear, in my opinion. (Assuming they were simply stating what they wanted the system to be.)

Again, we need to stop blaming and trying to punish other players for trying to engage with the content. This is on SE for for creating an inadequate system when they could have learned from other MMOs that already had player housing at the time ARR was being developed.

I cannot state enough how this is the mentality we need to have towards housing. All the fault for everything going wrong with housing is on SE and we need to stop coming up with ways to punish players for doing things within the rules SE put in place. Focus all the ire on those responsible for the current decisions towards housing and their refusal to innovate and stubbornly continue on a path that has been failing for years.
