Soloing was my favorite part of the game. Farming Solo?FF11 had plenty of stuff you could do solo.
Leveling your companions for example, or the "solo" content in teh past defending the cities from the beastmen...
Even in Aht Urghan(sp?) you could do a defense were everyone would gather even if you didnt have anyone to play with you were able to do it and got rewarded for it.
Also, what you said made no sense...do you know what "solo" content is?
nin/dnc nm hunting solo?
I used to have so much fun on BST hunting NM's and doing quests. Etc Etc, Nostalgia etc
Bring Quality Notorious Monsters to FFXIV!

I can't see hamlet defence being party based, how are gatherers and crafters supposed to partake if its party based. (and yes hamlet defence will heavily involve DoL and DoH)
I am hoping it will be like campaign where you just turn up at the correct time and do your bit, you can solo or party the choice is yours.
Even though you solo'd, that doesn't make it content they made for you to just take one party member and you have to beat an epic boss.I solo'd alot in FF's even if it meant kiilling off all but one person. I then solo'd alot in FFXI and continue to solo alot in FFXIV. there is a huge lack of solo content in FFXIV compared to all the others, even if it was only challenges you could present yourself with. As for the statement that this is an MMO and solo players should suck it up or gtfo is just stupid, people have been sayin this since XI as well. Its always people who don't try to understand why solo content is enjoyable (or totally fail at solo play so they say they don't like it, but i'm not saying that's the case here) that make statements like that. Sorry if you don't like solo content or deem it worthy of further development, but there are tons of players who DO enjoy solo challenges. Content that gets added all requires 8 people to enter, let alone to finish. Yes that is party content and that is why it takes a party, but more solo content should be added as well. MMORPG doesn't mean you have to team up with everyone all the time, it means that many, many people are all playing in the same virtual world and can interact with each other. It doesn't mean that everyone should have to party to get things done or have fun. You see 1,000 people any given day? more? less? do you need these people helping you to do everything you do in your day?.... why should you HAVE to in the game? You can't go into the bar without a party of eight! (a stupid example to be sure, but hopefully you take my meaning)
We need something like MMM from 11 I know I brought up 11 but I loved MMM and you could solo or party and spend hours just doing junk with it but that just my take on it.
that was simply to point out my desire for doing things solo at times, i wasn't saying that wasn't party content as i also mentioned having to kill off all but one person. with work however, nearly everything in every game was solo'able, such isn't the case in FFXIV. Even in that setting though, with more than one character it was still just me in control of it, so idk that you can say it isn't exactly solo'ing from one sense. i don't have to rely on other humans to control my other characters in the single player FFs. There will always be very powerful monsters that require parties to kill, there will always be "hard" dungeons that require parties to win.... but this shouldn't prevent solo content as well.
I think solo-content will arrive sooner or later.
At first, XI didnt have any solo-content, the solo-content arrived automaticly by raising the level cap.
NMs, missions/quests and exploring(strongholds e.g Castle Oztroja) became soloable due to higher lvls.
Having now too much solo-content would kill these contents in the future, since they would be "too weak" at that time.
But in my opinion, finding 8 people for a raid/instance is a real hazzle - 6 PT members in XI were perfect, so I would like to see a tweak in that way (off-topic alarm!).
At the very least they should be adding more solo grand company leves to do for the higher levels. I would assume that at some point they will add level 40 leves to do. I honestly feel like there is plenty to do solo in this game right now, however, all the people with all their jobs at 50 are pretty much screwed until 2.0.I was all hyped up (and sad) when I heard about Hamlet Defense coming with this patch! But it got delayed u.u
What I would like to know is if they are planning to release more content for solo players.
I got pretty much all classes (but gladiator/paladin) to 50 from a long time ago and I already got all af pieces for all my available jobs (except whm body) and to be honest...besides shouting for parties for the new dungeons...I have NOTHING to do battle wise.
Sure I could go craft to finish leveling my culinarian or gather to finish my FSH...btu I like FIGHTING.
All in all there's no content, right now, (at least IMHO) for max level people and that worries me.
Well considering you control all of them/they fight for you and don't have to rely on other players wanting to do something else, all of them sans 11 can be played solo.Look at all the final fantasy, how many of them promoted "solo" play. I want FFXIV to be a Final Fantasy. Each Final Fantasy had a "party" system.
Yes you could do it "solo" but it was 100xs harder. So, I want very little solo content. If you want to solo, you will just have to become 10xs better player than what you are ^.^
Really, what she's asking is if we can get content to do by ourselves on the side. Personally, I think there's plenty of stuff to do by yourself right now.
This is also my hope. Campaign & Besieged (from FFXI) were a lot of fun. If Hamlet Defense is similar though, we really need a "LFG Flag" next to our names. I almost always got an invite during these events but other times I just solo'd mobs I knew I could handle.
Choices & Options should be the 1st motto of FFXIV and the 2nd motto should be Exploration & Progression.
We need more quests for all levels of this game though. I have slow played my character and still have several low rank classes but leveling them is still extremely boring and tedious. The Class Quests are too few and far between and boring and too easy.
What I would really like to see is Story/Class progression which starts out solo but leads into Party-based quests. They have done this with the new Job Quests and I applaud them for it. Now go back and redo ALL the Class quests to reflect this strategy.
What I do not want to see though is more Forced 8-man Party Content or even Forced 4-man content. Please get rid of minimum party requirements entirely. I have no problem with needing a full party to complete content, I just have a problem with being forced in to it. If someone wants to take on Ifrit alone, go for it...you're gonna lose, but go for it anyway.
Eventually there will be a Level Cap Raise so if 2 lvl 75's wanna go back and Duo content, they should be able to, imho.
Papa was a rolling stone...wherever he laid his barbut was home.
Exactly! A friend and I were discussing this today and I agree that party requirements shouldn't be forced on players. Like others have previously stated, I have absolutely no problem with optional party play content. The reason I was excited about FFXIV was that it would break the norm and be very solo friendly MMO. If that wasn't what I was looking for, I would have never left FFXI. Although, they were making awesome progress with content such as FOVs.What I do not want to see though is more Forced 8-man Party Content or even Forced 4-man content. Please get rid of minimum party requirements entirely. I have no problem with needing a full party to complete content, I just have a problem with being forced in to it. I'm happy that party play content was released with this latest patch. However, I would've liked just a bit more solo content released as well. At the very least, adding more LQs to all areas to increase variety in the rotation. Maybe even raise the limit LQs obtained at once from 8 to 10...or do away with the limit all together =P. It would also be nice to have more variety in LQs rewards. For example, 5 anima points, 5 "Return to Nearest Town" charms, 3 tickets to trade for LQ stat boosts, 2 keys to trade for "Mystery Boxes", combination of any rewards, etc. etc.
Anyway, I appreciate SE for having patches this often. Always fun to see what's new. ^^
