If a class is both balanced and fun why would you change anything?
I dunno about you but I generally top the DPS in any instance I'm in. There's something to be said for consistency and reaper is fun and consistent in its DPS.
I don't know what's awkward about hitting a button for a burst window or just general assistance to all.
Maintaining your 10% damage debuff/buff at least adds some engagement rather than just toggling on a thing.
These all seem like very weak complaints.
I'd rather they not ruin the first job I've enjoyed enough to swap mains to in 8 years.
WHERE IS THIS KETTLE EVERYONE KEEPS INTRODUCING ME TO?

HMMMMMMM??
Lol, jk![]()

Bad dps? is that accurate?
I feel like whenever I'm doing alliance raids as an RDM the only people who are more than likely to beat me in aggro are reapers; which is unusual, because that used to be SAM, MCH (i'd say BLM if as many people were great at it as the former)
iirc if your dps will just flat out be higher for the most part youll be higher on the aggro list outside of the tank, so you can kinda tell if youre dpsing more than other people without anything that breaks ToS
that is unless you are, in which case you'll be made very aware of how much your buffs are affecting everyone else, but thats not what im referencing above
considering buffs that apply to everyone as opposed to something like dance partner or in spite of things like that reapers are much more likely to out dps me anyway. i think if you're not topping dps as a reaper you might want to refine your rotation or something a little

yeah, i'll give him the wrap. but foist, i gotta wrap this FISH.

I know you're joking.. but you don't need a parser to check.
For a quick and dirty, glance at the threat. This is a good tip for everyone who runs the game vanilla (like I do). If I'm just below the tank.. I'm pretty sure I'm top. There are mitigating factors, but generally, if I'm #2 (sometimes 3 or 4), I can safely say I'm doing more than others since I don't really have anything else that causes threat, especially since my potential for healing is not really worth the move anymore.

Ah I know, but given all the hub bub going on recently with 3rd party tools I saw your words and the gif instantly popped into mindI know you're joking.. but you don't need a parser to check.

I remember when that was a good way to see how people didn't use their threat reduction tools lol - "I'm so good I keep stealing aggro" .... Me: "Or it's because you're not using quelling strikes... two in one hand half a dozen in the other? /shrug?" haha.
Although I believe SMN does mess with that, if I remember the tooltip correctly it has enmity on summoning demi.

I haven't done extreme/savage with reaper, so I can't really say about its gameplay mechanic or dps. I do have comments on the visual though. I really wish they tone down the vfx a bit, as I hardly can see what my character is doing. Reaper animations are good and I want to appreciate it more, but I can't see it clearly when the vfx obscure my character, especially when the avatar appears.
I guess over the top vfx is intentional since it's the "chunni job", but I dislike it. Make it like dragoon vfx and it'll be perfect

as far as the original question goes:
pros
-i like that it does so much damage, im not competitive about the classes i play so i dont care if reapers do more damage than me, they cant revive people (if they could, i would main one. i was hoping it would be the first melee dps that would be able to, but then it came out swinging doing a ton of damage so it'd be incredibly unbalanced for prog. no one would ever not want a reaper)
-it looks cool/it matches my aesthetic/(most of) the skills look cool
-i love its mobility, portals are awesome, and so is the ability to plan ahead. i wouldn't even mind if the jumps were point-placing to an extent (like double tap to just jump, tap once to place your portal somewhere else to jump to it later)
-its a garlean class, which is awesome
cons
-tbh, i wish true north lasted a little longer. it makes me feel a lot safer dpsing when a bunch of pathetic tanks are playing hot potato with aggro, and alot of my attacks feel slow; so i get impatient waiting to do my positionals. i have no idea if theres a good "fast reap" build (not a problem specific to reaper) and i havent looked into it because i dont main it
-i hate enshroud, which is a real shame because its the cool big damage phase
i dont mind making a pact with a demon but i dont want it to possess me, the hood/big black and pink veiny weird looking dress looks stupid and i prefer whatever im wearing already; and as cool as it is, communio as the last attack just feels kinda clunky being a cast. i dont like that its a cast at all, and going from weaponskill (wait gcd) to (cast) just feels.. slow? idk why i feel that way, but i do
-enormous lack of weapons, most of which look kinda crappy and aren't dyeable
yeah, i'll give him the wrap. but foist, i gotta wrap this FISH.
Have you ever heard that there is different aggro types in the game ? When you take avantage of that, you can chain mobs one by one way quicker than launching a weak ranged single target skill from afar and then waiting for the mob to come to you. The most common example being having a mob of the sight-aggro type who did turn his back to you, allowing you to have the time to kill another mob next to him.
But hey i am asking that to someone who thinks that reaper, who is by far the easiest melee to play, still have way too many buttons. Seriously.
