Azilemnity is a GM and not a CM. To be honest someone probably reported the thread and they were the one sent to deal with them. At least they left a message instead of sniping the thread from orbit.

Yep, very much this. It was almost certainly just a case where the GMs were receiving multiple reports of inappropriate behaviour/content in the thread and just ended up locking it to stop the thread.

While the thread in question actually did have some actual discussion in it, it really had just completely devolved into a garbage fire over the last few days so I think the GMs made the right choice.

They are too busy on Twitter and Twitch when they stream. Let's be honest, if anyone wants to contact them then they need to go to one of those two places. The OF was a nice idea but got lords of vermillion'd.

Again, look at the state of this board. Are you THAT shocked they don't bother? Besides, there is a CM in this place but they rarely post themselves, and at most it seems like they just relay some info to the JP side which may or may not represent the western fanbase. Though... *takes a quick glance at the general discussion board* I really can't blame them if they stay quiet, lol.

...yes? it is literally a moderator's job to, you know, moderate? This is the OFFICIAL forum, meaning that this is 1 of the places new customers/players come to so you would think that with customerservice/relations in mind, they would atleast tidy this place up, lest they lose face. But instead, new people are greeted with a dumpsterfire. That surely goes over well.

As honored as I am that my thread may be used as as an example for or against moderation, I need to make it clear that there's a reason that I limited my responses nearing the end of the thread. I wanted it to die because the question was no longer the main subject of the thread, and I was about ready to request a closing of the thread myself because folks were being accused of being "Phobic" or "Bigots" for having a different opinion.

It's easy to see what threads are bait threads based on the amount of posts and the post history of the individual. but the term "Bait" and "troll" are thrown around too frivolously now. And what's worse is that anyone that has a question that others don't like could be easily dismissed as a troll post or a bait post, and this can be very dangerous to the XIV community. Think about it, what if someone has a take on game mechanics or community issues that others disagree with, and it's blown off as a troll post? How can anything get done?

Just food for thought.
