I do wish necroed threads would get closed. Heck, even New World has a way to close topics 30 days after no one responds to it or the post date. Some being necroed were made by trolls as it is, or so old it doesn't matter anymore.
But that other thread needed to be closed. It did a 180 and moved so far away from FF14, I could see it from space. Was getting a bit nasty in there.
And what they did was *looks over notes* lock a thread initially discussing why there was a need for inclusivity advertisements because it had been deemed to run its course:

Amazing to see a moderator in action in light of recent events and non-recent events *cough bait&troll threads&necromancers cough* And people wonder why people dont feel taken seriously or take issue with how the forum is being run....

But why is it the LGBT+ thread that gets closed, and not all of the bait threads with toxic subjects. Sometimes parody is closer to truth, and becomes truth. I love it when people have a sense of humor, but we really got to get better moderation here, because some of the hateful sounding troll threads end up.. being more than just a joke.I do wish necroed threads would get closed. I wonder as an LGBT+ person if what that moderator did wasn't in the best taste. I know on reddit its always the queer/trans/racial threads that get locked first. As soon as there is one comment, nope, its locked. End of discussion. I don't like that mentality.

Regrettably, without sufficient moderation, posting about LGBT+ on this forum is a bait thread with a toxic subject. Even if the original poster has genuine good intent, all the anti-supporters and trolls come to it and the mods let it simmer for days if not weeks.
(Edit to add: This is not to say it isn't a bad thing that they choose to ignore so many other threads while closing that one. But they aren't just picking on a topic that gets discussed nicely.)

I think that's a feature of the technology the forums run on TBH. All of Blizzard's forums and I think Lost Ark as well use the same one and they all mention that topics close after 30 days or so.

The reason necro-threading is a thing on these forums is because the mods want all feedback to be in one, collected thread about that topic, which is what the JP-side of the forums do. The JP mods would even move new threads about an old topic to the oldest thread and redirect people there. For some reason, the EN mods never did either of those. Another "rule" of the forums that contributes to this (at least according to the one time a EN mod told us back-in-the-day) is that the dev team seems to value "Likes" on threads and comments over repetition of a sentiment (i.e. one comment with lots of Likes vs a bunch of comments agree with each other).

To be honest, I don't blame the Mods for not wanting to interact with the gamers in these forums. People are super crazy and super toxic on here. You got Karen's running around wanting to pitch fork anything that does not agree with their point of view, you got witch-hunters looking to blame anyone that looks like they are Modding and hell even does that give a hint that they want to Mod. You got people trying to cancel +18 clubs even though you can't see that stuff unless you Mod yourself. Instead of enjoying the game some people are just logging on to go after anyone they chose for their sadistic pleasure. If I were a Mod on these forums I would stay far away. Just too much drama and negativity lurking on here at the moment. Like I just saw a post on here asking for a fornication function. Like WTH.
What's going on is an unfortunate trend in not just MMORPG forums, but any multiplayer forum. It happened on the WoW forums so intensely, and so frequently, that a blizzard representative had to quit because there was no quelling the crowd. People go onto the forums, and they scream about how the game is horrible and demanding improvements. In their frustration, they get hostile twords people that either don't see things the way they do, or actually enjoy the mechanic. Then you got people that insist on associating certain themes of the games with socio/political things, to which the people saying "Keep real world stuff and controversial stuff out of the game" which results in more heated debates. And then you got the trolls, whom are able to clump in with the topics, and start the fires they typically do.To be honest, I don't blame the Mods for not wanting to interact with the gamers in these forums. This isn't anything new. Not that I'm excusing it, but here's the big question: How many people go to discussion forums to praise the game? The answer is "little-to-none." The reason for this is because the people that are enjoying the game are playing it while the angry people that are upset with the game are on the forums. And, for better or worse, a customer does have a right to complain.
As for the activity of the moderators and representatives, what could they do in the forum that wouldn't cause a dogpile on them? When people behave uncivilized, and act on emotion, it can make things harder for everyone.
