Most of my friends do that, but also have fe/male alts because they still like their aesthetic.I really dont get it. If someone wants to be called a she, why not play a female? I always thought that being trans means that you are born in the wrong body and since not everyone can go through a sex change they show it through pronouns. Ingame you can simply start with the gender you really want to be.
I personally think that your own gender has nothing to do with your FF14 character.
You play as a fe/male because you like the way they look and not because you identify as a fe/male so you must play as one!
What I don't see them do though is roll a catboy if they're ftm for example and then glamour on a dress, even though I see many of those on 14 xD

I don't care what your sex is in real life, I am going to use the respective pronouns based on the sex of your character to refer to your character. If you don't want to be referred to as she, her, hers, then I suggest you play male. If you play a male and want to be referred to as she, her, hers, then I strongly suggest you play a female avatar.
In all honesty, this crap has got to stop and has gotten way out of control. I get steamed every time I think about all the time the devs have wasted going back and redesigning existing outfits to accommodate both genders. All to appease such a small group of people who want to make their avatars look ridiculous.
oh come on, it isn't a small group, I see plenty of male chars running about with female clothes.I don't care what your sex is in real life, I am going to use the respective pronouns based on the sex of your character to refer to your character. personally, I want some of the male outfits on females at the end of the day gives me more choice.

I will concede and agree that there are quite a few male-exclusive outfits that I'd like to use on my female characters as well, but the demand is nowhere as high in the other direction. For every male character you see in a dress, there are 10 more who are disappointed with the lack of male character customization options and want things like beards/more masculine hairstyles. The same holds for female characters, with a long-time complaint being the lack of long fantasy heroine hairstyles.
The 3d model work required to adapt these outfits should be redirected towards other projects like addressing the complaints I've mentioned above. As to this pronoun dilemma it appears the English localization team has hinted at something along the lines of this request in an interview by one of the members who essentially replaced Koji, stating that the pixies "laid the groundwork" for something else in the future, something to that effect. That being said I do not consider it a good use of resources, and given the recent failings in the narrative (at least in the English version, maybe JP has better dialogue) I am losing confidence in their ability to tell stories worth listening to and fleshing out future areas we'll visit.

I think the player base in general really wants expanded CC features, but getting one doesn't mean we can't have the other, it comes down to more what they want to put their Dev time into what quickly becomes super nuanced but sadly we can't get everything.I will concede and agree that there are quite a few male-exclusive outfits that I'd like to use on my female characters as well, but the demand is nowhere as high in the other direction. Regarding the whole pronoun, I don't really have an opinion on it.
personally I just want to have multiple layers for face decals so I can have both freckles and face paint, oh and be able to wear hats and glasses together.

while i can see them maybe adding they/them pronouns in the next mmo, i doubt it will be added to this one. sorry

The beauty of a forum is that you don't get to dictate who responds to you and how they feel. That is just trying to create an echo chamber.
IMHO, it would be a titanic waste of dev time to please a small fraction of a community. Also, not gonna say that there already exists ways to do this that just don't mess with the voices, but change everything else...

The choice you refer to is an illusion. All of us have the ability to fantasia if our current avatar doesn't meet the requirements to wear an outfit. IOW, you still have access to the attire. And before anyone comes around saying they don't want to spend real money just to change, I will need to remind those of the overwhelming willingness to spend real money to get their character to snap their fingers, role play an existing character, etc. On top of that, it also places a demand on the dev team to prevent your own wallets from getting a little lighter.
Every time I see a male in a bunny outfit, or the like, I see the dev team bending the knee to the loud minority. I see a lost opportunity to create an entirely new outfit that could have been gender neutral where everyone benefits from the actual increase in options.

The only people who have extra work in converting clothing to the other gender is 3d modeling teams. And even then they are adjusting an existing mesh, not making a new one from scratch. The other teams who would be working on clothing from scratch (concept art and texture artists and riggers) have literally no extra work and could begin other projects if they were assigned.
making existing meshes neutral isn't eating your extra glamours, the cash shop is.
