    The RNG of Synthisis

    I am lvl20 cooking.

    I pick up a Lv20 cooking leve.

It asks me to make some food that has magic stats.

So I put on my magic crafting + control gear (it is not +1 gear, but it is the best NQ gear for Lv20), then I get the guild buff and eat magic crafting stat food, find it to be divine, and then make sure I have all of the right abilities slotted.

Fulfillment - (increases chances of success for Synthisis)
    Harmonize - (Reduces risk)
Masterpiece - (increases chances of success for Careful Synthisis)

I am not a Lv10 Blacksmith or Armorer yet, so I do not have Makers Muse or Blinding Speed.

I can only have 3 abilities slotted at Lv20 cooking.

I choose to use my main hand tool and begin the leve.

    I fail the leve.

I retry the leve and fail again.

I retry the leve and barely complete it with very low score of assessment.

Synthisis is extremely frustrating for me - hoping that RNG doesn't cause me to fail when I craft is too annoying.

I am done crafting in FFXIV unless the RNG nature of Synthisis is removed.

Ok, level 20 cooking recipes, what i remember about them

    1) They all requires synth support

im guessing that is where you failed, if it says it requires it, you still need it

I said in my OP that I get the guild buff before I begin crafting.

Are you waiting on flashing/red orbs? Are you synthing only on white or yellow? Are you using mostly standard synth for progression? Also, magic stats =/= m. craft. Just stack all the crafting stats you can get.

If I hit wait after I hit an ability, that would use an ability turn (IE: the ability only has 3-4 turns and WAIT would use up one turn)

Yes, the Magic Crafting stat is better for crafting items that have magic stats on them and the crafting stat is better for crafting items that have physical stats on them - confirmed by Yoshi-P in a past Letter from the Producer.

I use standard/careful along with my abilities.

I use WAIT for RED/GOLD/FLASHING if I am not using an ability at that time, but since WAIT is based on RNG as well, the orb can STILL be RED/GOLD/FLASHING anyway after using WAIT (no point in using wait more then three times in a row since I will loose more durability that way then I would have if I just used Standard instead and failed it...)

If I do not use Careful at all I will get very low XP from crafting because quality would be very low (how much quality an item finishes with determines how much XP you get per synth post patch 1.21)

Would also be good to note that Leves don't always give the exact rank of recipe that they state. A rank 20 lev can give a much higher rank item.

Other than that Life is one big RNG get used to bad luck once in a while.

Lv20 leves are anywhere from lv20-lv24, Lv25 leves are anywhere from lv25-lv29, etc...

It is not fun to have no control over if I fail a leve or not - (IE: well, I'm gonna push the correct button now and see if the game decides if I get to craft this or not!)

I fail more leves then I complete.

The leves I complete barely give exp because they have very low quality.

RNG in crafting is not fun. /shrug

Wait... did you say "Leve" ?
It's because it was frustrating on my way with Blacksmith before, all the recipes were about dated items, and there was always one which required some other class. For example, the Dated Bladed Lantern Shield. You need Blacksmith and Alchemy. Now, how Alchemy is needed to put a freaking blade on the shield is out of my imagination, but it got me really upset. I couldn't do that because my Alchemy was only 11, but I don't give sh*t about Alchemy...

How is it now, did they substitute the recipes with the new ones?

    Also uh... what's an RNG?

Blowin stuf up so you can try to get more xp per synth only to fail the leve and get even less xp than just spamming standard synth..... idk about blamin the RNG for this one.

Yea most of the crafting skills mean crap now, and yes its very much a random chance, very little skill in crafting, regardless of what people may say.

That being said the new changes are quite welcome, HQing and XP bonus are great, if they continue to tweak crafting as they have been in 2.0 it should be awesome.

Especially where you have a recipe book and can only try recipes you know.
