I strongly recommend seeking out statics that exist outside of FCs for raiding, anyway. There's multiple points of failure for FC raid teams. And I would never settle when looking for an FC, there's never a point to not enjoying the people you hang out with. Just keep hopping till you find something that clicks.

I'd amend this slightly: an FC static can be great as a starter static. My FC has a static that has existed across a few incarnations now, the Rookie Raiders (or "Rooks" for short). The Rooks exist to help folks get started in savage raiding, with experienced raiders in the FC helping to mentor. A given roster of the Rooks usually lasts about a tier—more or less by design—and then they scatter to longer-term statics (generally separate from the FC).

I aim to make my posts engaging and entertaining, even when you might not agree with me. And failing that, I'll just be very, VERY wordy.

They've been absolute blunders for ever new player I've witnessed and I will always strongly advise against them. They never consider that the new players starting have very different goals, learning paces and commitments. The members end up finding out too late that some are serious/ want to go all in and some only want to do the absolute bare minimum to get the gear for glamour. The raid leads are always midly experienced players who think too highly of themselves and trash talk the newbies behind their backs, pikachu shock face that it's taking sprouts weeks to learn styles of mechanics they've already mastered. New players are always better off forming their own groups and finding like minded people who want to prog at the same level of commitment. You don't need someone to tell you what to do - all the information is readily available online. Not even getting into the aforemention issues leaking into FC wide drama later.
