Morpher: Based on the FFXI monstrosity system, it's build you own monster with form, abilities and traits. Could use Halatali as a monster arena for PVP and PVE fights.

Onion Knight: Is able to equip all gear, and all abilities, weaponskills, spells and traits from all your unlocked jobs. Build you own class and go nuts. Ofcourse it won't be balanced.
It would have two 3-combo strings where you slot in any WS you want. Additional effects and combo potency won't proc on first WS in the combo string, but will proc for 2 and 3. So if you wanted to have one combo string be self buff while the other is pure dmg, you could do that.

Onion Knight has long been my "if we had another limited job, I'd like it to be this" wish; you could repurpose the old cross-class skill system -- which still exists, so far as I know, as I believe DoL can cross-class skill the map-marker skills of the other DoL classes -- as the bones of the job to get a head start on it. You could also require that you've got, for instance, three jobs at level 50 before Onion Knight would unlock, to ensure you had a decent range of things to pull from.

The real problem, though, is gear. The way this game is coded, you can't have a job wear "all gear"; you'd have to have gear that was "all jobs" (like how glamour gear works), which is exactly the inverse of what you'd want with ONK (for lack of a better abbreviation, and also because "ONK" makes me laugh). The only way you could make it work would be to go through on all the role gear (Fending, Maiming, Scouting, Aiming, Healing, Casting -- and for accessories, Slaying) and add "ONK" as one of the valid jobs for all of them.

Still, that's not an impossible task; we've seen how new jobs get retroactively added to the roles, so -- as issues that need to be tackled for a limited job go -- it's not that much of an obstacle.

The part that I'm not sure about is what you'd do with ONK. BLU has the Masked Carnivale and the Blue Mage Log... I don't quite know what ONK's gimmick would be, even if I know that I'd love to toy with it mechanically.

I aim to make my posts engaging and entertaining, even when you might not agree with me. And failing that, I'll just be very, VERY wordy.

How about ONK uses DRG/RPR gear? Its heavily plated enough so you still retain the ONK aesthetic while also making sense for a Onion Knight to wear their armor since its built also for mobility instead of heavy defense.

They could just give onion knight a job trait that says “ignores role requirements on equipment”.

It would also need a trait that unlocks the most enhanced version of all skills too. For example taking blizzard off BLM won’t do you any good if you don’t have access to umbral ice (which comes from a trait) and you wouldn’t want to be stuck with rage of halone when you have access to royal authority.

I think Freelancer from FF5 is a better "base" to use than Onion Knight for such a class. But I would probably limit it to having access to just Class skills rather than Job skills, but give access to all Role Actions. With maybe some restrictions weapon type restrictions to use certain skills (like needing a Bow to use most Archer skills).

But for Limited Job ideas, one thing I once thought of a little bit. I was rather annoyed at the Sorrows of Werlyt questline that the G-Warrior only ever got used once before being benched and ultimately turned in the G-Savior...

So, what if they made a Limited Job based around using the G-Warrior, maybe a slightly more miniaturized version of it and the other Weapons from the Werlyt questline possibly even giving them different roles, Between all 5 of them you could probably figure out a way to get a Melee, Caster, Phys Ranged, Tank and Healer out of them.

    Ah... Freelancer.

Maybe not applicable to the game today, but it would be cool if Freelancer was the "default job" of everyone upon entering the game, and at level 10 or so you'd get to choose the guild to enlist to.

    On topic:

    - Beastmaster, and pets being a collection system like minions, with their own tournament fights in the Coliseum, where you control the pet versus other pve or pvp enemies. Puppeteer in the same fashion.
    - Magitek pilot, a special limited job with vehichle based content

    *Slams fist on desk*

You just gave Yoshi-P the solution to getting rid of all pre job crystal classes! xD

So basically Beastmaster would function like Pokemon in the Coliseum? I need this!!!

I doubt he would, though... The classes are still a huge chunk of ingame lore and content.

I think in general classes are fine, though. The change I would make was to make a requirement to have a job stone to get into the Castrum/Prae dungeons.

Nah, make the Crystals a requirement at 30/31 for dungeons and such. There was a thread that talked about that here awhile back.

That works too... And, as much as I love leveling 2 jobs with 1, they defnitely need to separate SCH and SMN. Nowadays they are completely separate in actual mechanics and actions, and since ACN have the direct upgrades to SMN, SCH could be just like AST: unlocked at level 30 without ACN tied to it.

This would broaden the option for healers at lower levels.
