*Slams fist on desk*Ah... Freelancer.
Maybe not applicable to the game today, but it would be cool if Freelancer was the "default job" of everyone upon entering the game, and at level 10 or so you'd get to choose the guild to enlist to.
On topic:
- Beastmaster, and pets being a collection system like minions, with their own tournament fights in the Coliseum, where you control the pet versus other pve or pvp enemies. Puppeteer in the same fashion.
- Magitek pilot, a special limited job with vehichle based content
You just gave Yoshi-P the solution to getting rid of all pre job crystal classes! xD
So basically Beastmaster would function like Pokemon in the Coliseum? I need this!!!
I doubt he would, though... The classes are still a huge chunk of ingame lore and content.
I think in general classes are fine, though. The change I would make was to make a requirement to have a job stone to get into the Castrum/Prae dungeons.

Chalk up another vote for Onion Knight.
Puppetmaster would be cool. Perhaps beating certain dungeons would reward automaton parts, with some being exceptionally rare. Team up with other Puppetmasters to increase your chances of gaining rare parts. Aside from XI's system, they could take cues from Nier Automata and its upgrade system.
"Poacher" would be an interesting idea. In order to categorize the fauna of Hydaelyn, it would be necessary to fight varieties of them, gradually unlocking a new Collectible book that could be expanded on. Maybe not necessary to be a limited job, but I do like the idea of being level synched when fighting enemies in order to properly document them and their attacks.

I'd change Poacher to hunter and make a sort of superior hunt system than what we currently got involving footprint tracking, etc, and makes hunting elite marks funner.Chalk up another vote for Onion Knight.

In order to give ONK any gear, you'd simply need to assign ONK to that gear.
For example with BLU, they didn't just 'make BLU a Caster' and it was able to equip all caster gear, instead you can see that on each caster gear piece it now says "Can be equipped by THM, BLM, ARC, SMN, RDM and BLU"
I'm sure they have a system for flagging gear and altering assigned jobs, and it's not a case of going through the database and adding "BLU" to every single item. In which case, it shouldn't be difficult to add "and ONK" to every single piece of gear out there. If they wanted Onion Knight to be able to equip anything.
Weapons are obviously a different story, because your Job is tied to your weapon, so ONK would at least have to have it's own unique weapon set.
I actually came up with an Onion Knight concept a couple years back. I made it a Tank, because well we have one Limited Job that's a Caster, but can fill every role, so why not have a Limited Tank that can fill every role? (then I'd envision Beastmaster as a Limited Healer)
My concept was that it gains a unique skill that's similar to it's counterpart from every other job you've leveled. E.g. Level BLM to 50 and your ONK can use Flare, except it's a slightly different version of Flare balanced for ONK.
Designed in a way that certain skills from one job can compliment and combo with skills from another job, etc. You mix and match, just like BLU to get your own brand of ONK.
So where BLU has it's "learning skills from enemies" gimmick, ONK has a "learning skills by levelling other jobs" gimmick.
You then take both BLU and ONK into exactly the same content, Masked Carnivale and Savage Raids, etc.

Bring back Green Mages. The would be considered healer I think though, and while not actually provide a heal, they would provide party wide shielding, and maybe a shield that heals based on dmg taken once it expired.
I don't know where this forums obsession with green mages come from, they were literally only in FFtactics A2 and just took the buff/debuff spells that used to be on WHM/BLM in other games such as shell and protect.
But also yeah +1 to onion knight/free lancer, i feel like they are something that would really justify the idea of being a limited job, and pulling synergies from other jobs could be a lot of fun, like I could imagine a "fire" based rotation where you take the astral fire trait from BLM and then use offglobals like dragonfire dive/ stardiver/ hellfrom medium to passively keep it up, and getting super buffed verflares. They could also have access to removed abilities and mechanics from jobs in the past as a way to preserve them, basically allowing someone to "rebuild" a stormblood dark knight if they wanted to for messing around with in old content.

Had an idea! What if Green Mage could cast Reflect on enemies and make their takes bounce back on themselves for a certain duration of time?
I also want to see Green Mage added into the game. Don't know much about it, but I just wanna complete my assortment of colored Mage list in this game. x3

That's an awesome idea! They can reflect damage with one spell with a longer cooldown, reflect spell damage with another, and reflect physical damage with a third. For good measure an AEO reflect and a team wide reflect instant cast and longer cooldown.Had an idea! What if Green Mage could cast Reflect on enemies and make their takes bounce back on themselves for a certain duration of time?

Could even have offensive crowd control with ability to bubble enemies in place taking amplified damage and more once it expires maybe?
Green Mage was a job that did exist in the FF tactics series and I believe there it was a support job that pretty much just had castable buffs and debuffs with no real direct offense of its own besides the basic attack of hitting something with its weapon in melee range. Not really sure how that would play out in this game since they eliminated the support role to create the tank/healer/dps trinity since green mage didn't have healing abilities either. So essentially in that regard it would have an extremely hard time without party members. That's an awesome idea! I wouldnt mind a puppetmaster based limited job as long as it went a route of building and customizing the "pet" via installation of parts. I'd have it so the player character would mostly stay out of combat using a remote or some kind of interface device as its "weapon" and a maintenance tool for its offhand. The skillbar would be set with abilities the puppet gained from parts installed and would also gain traits from the installed parts as well allowing the puppet to fit a specific role or become a sort of cross role hybrid. As to a system of parts installation. I think the most ideal would probably be similar to a game I played called LBX. The game had shell parts that altered appearance and also I think contributed to things like max HP and defense values and it had an internal parts system that provided a shaped space where you could fit parts in kind of like a puzzle as the parts had different shapes and sizes and it was up to you to find the best way to make use of the space. It could be taken a step further and also allow the puppet to equip player weapon types based on it's primary configuration or frame if taking from the FFXI puppet master frames where you could have a base frame that could also have different internal box shapes and use weapons based on it's frame type.
