As far as the 5 enemies are alive, shifting priorities is not going to happen that much

Gotta add to the pile here and say this is blatantly false. If you're not shifting priorities/targets based on the factors around you then you're not playing it right. You can't just keep wailing on one dude the entire time until they're dead. My partner who is a much more experienced vet in pvp games (I don't usually play them cuz I get super invested/kinda toxic sometimes and I'm working on that) like Overwatch and stuff explained to me as "pick the person who is currently killable."

Killable relies on a few different factors:

1. Purify use
2. HP remaining
3. MP remaining
4. Position in relation to the rest of their/your team
5. Pressure they're currently applying to your team if unchecked (this one's a bit iffy)

Even if you base your initial markers on Class and/or skill level present after the first engagement, you're going to have scenarios where LB + Life + Positioning + Team Comp will influence what target is killable when. I don't need to focus on the WHM if I can kill their SAM/NIN friends right now. I don't need to focus on a RDM if their WAR is about to go down leaving them defenseless.

Shifting targets is essential to securing kills. That WHM (despite its kit) can't 1v5 you, and that WAR can't really stand up to 5 people bursting them at once either. By shifting top priority consistently it doesn't matter what 2-5 are, because your team is moving consistently together to coordinate attacks.

I already lost several games with 2 guys deciding their target is the most important.

Did you help them kill the target they were calling out? Because if not, that might be part of why you lost, lol
