I am bored so i ask : What does it matter ? This is story driven game and his sexuality do not matter ever ? Even after thinking about it: Why does NPC need a sexuality just for the sake of it ? The story is based on other aspects so why ? For what purpose ? In my mind certain NPC's are couple's or gay but this my interpretation and never even had any meaning in the story (make any char gay/trans and look at the story). Give me an interesting story and characters not some checkbox nonsense. So, why even mention the sexuality of NPC's ? Example: Tataru is an adult but i dont wanna know - EVER. I love Tataru as she is, in my mind (for funs sake make her a trans and look at the story - nothing, it doesnt hold meaning and is kinda pointless).
I have no comment on the Hythlodeus thing, but I don't think there really needs to be a purpose. Should we just get rid of everything that isn't relevant to the story?
I don't see an issue with adding unimportant things to the game. Like for example, giving the characters in Thavnair accents in the English voice acting. It wasn't necessary at all, but still a nice touch.
It'd be strange if there was a huge spotlight on being gay and giving it way too much attention, but I don't really have a problem with it simply existing. Just don't make it weird.

Hm, good point but people here aks for it as a focus and thats whats weird to me. If it would be just part of the world, why the hell not but SE avoids this topic most of the time completly (probably rating reasons). Also having a "trans" person in the story just for the sake of it, is just "chekcboxing" and not honest. In my opinion Cid and nero are a tragic couple but SE will never say something about (or did they and i missed it?).I have no comment on the Hythlodeus thing, but I don't think there really needs to be a purpose. Furthermore my point stands, does it make a change if Emet would be gay ? No because the story avoids this topic (sexuality) almost completly (except some lovestorys but these are superficial and do not go deeper) and be honest we are not here for this, we here for a good "hero story" and there is no need for this topic at all. It would interesting but, in my opinion, it would drive the rating up and this something SE do not want.
I'm only focusing on gay people here. I also never thought Cid and Nero were a couple. The thought never occured to me.Hm, good point but people here aks for it as a focus and thats whats weird to me. I think we are too hung up on the sexuality aspect rather than love. We have had npc's of the same sex who love each other already present in the game (wanderer's palace and that one npc who mentioned her wife during some event). Neither of these drove the rating of the game up.
I just want to say again I don't think there needs to be a spotlight on it, but to have it simply exist out there in the world doesn't seem like such a bad thing. I certainly don't want any inappropriate content in the game that would drive the rating up, I'm not talking about that sort of thing at all.
By your own admission, we have some love stories that are superficial and do not go deeper in this game already. Have these driven the rating of the game up? Should we remove these stories?
