but were they intentionally designed that way? if they were, then i would hope that what they can equip is fully fleshed out and not rushed.

I just saw the new dragon race. And this might be a hot take, but if Hrothgar's would have had that amount of detail put into them (I mean head, body, tail, digitigrade claws and feet. As well as the skin patterns, tattoos, cool hairstyles for the human forms) then I wouldn't mind only having head and chest armour.
...I'm sorry for judging based on your profile character, but you don't want to know what Au Ra were originally designed as :xI just saw the new dragon race. Honestly, I can't say for certain whether I'd enjoy the lack of gear either. Part of me wants to be as fair and complete as possible, in a "go all in or don't even bother" way. But there is no denying that they actually landed on a really solid design with that race. And WoW's character creation menu is nowhere near as detailed as FF14's. Which just makes the way they're treating Hrothgar sting even harder. I get that Square needs to work harder for a race than Blizzard does, and that alone is a detriment. But when all they've done was just plaster leonine features into Roegadyn and be rather lazy in dealing with the 3D models from then on, it feels like a waste.
They don't want to take risks and want to play it safe. Yet they're Square bloody Enix. They already simplified as much as they could on this race, how far more do they want to take it? Just make Miqo'te Roegadyn at this point and call it a day if we're such a bother. GW2 cared to make the Charr unique, Blizzard actually made Worgen look interesting and now this race look well-designed. And then you have Square Enix, the guys who can make photorealistic 3D movies and cutting-edge graphics for videogames whimper at the thought of low-poly leonine races.

It is apparent that Hrothgar has more problems than the Vieras. But this mentality I've seen lately, of one pushing the blame onto the other, isn't going to help either.
The culprit here is SE, who wanted to launch two races at the same time. Who thought not finishing both races would be acceptable. Who thought the world still accepts genderlock, and the woman's race is just the hot one, and the man is the strong fighter without customization options, because men don't care about that.
We can join forces and ask for both, or we can split up and the less popular side will suffer. I've always fought here on the forums for both races, obviously I focus on my interests, as those who like hrothgar will focus on this race.
I don't deny that every time I read "the viera are to blame, who asked SE to add the male viera", it bothers me. I also fought for the female hrothgar, and I fight today for both races to have decent helmets and hair. I can't see this competition that some have seen. If one race gets something, the other one will get it right away, because if it doesn't, the SE knows the community will scream.
I'm not blaming you for anything, because I'm focusing more on the megathread of both races, and I didn't really follow what happened here (despite coming here from time to time to read, and post something). I just want to say that I don't see any advantages in what I've been reading on the forum. My ultimate goal is to encourage the union of both groups, because apart we will not be heard.

This profile picture is of my first character, now it's just an alt. I use it instead of my main to not get in trouble. (my main is a Hrothgar since they had been added in Shadowbringers, I didn't know how fantasia worked so I made a brand new character when they were added)...I'm sorry for judging based on your profile character, but you don't want to know what Au Ra were originally designed as :x

Don't worry, I'm not trying to pin the blame on anyone. Pinning blame won't help, you are correct. As you said, we need to work together. It's simply that from our perspective we haven't seen that from the community at large. When the majority of players, Viera included, didn't know or mention Hrothgars needing to buy stuff with real money to change hairs, it says a bit about how much our voice was heard and how much it was being echoed.
It was simply me echoing why we say "we're really not the same". Because we haven't been treated the same, and we wanted that. The results of that erasure speak for themselves, really. So it's time for the boat to really be equal. Because otherwise what's next? Even more low effort on Viera? Roegadyn getting the short straw again? Au Ra horns not even existing?
The advantage is simple. For Hrothgar players to be heard and taken seriously. That's really all. Because we weren't heard, our issues weren't public knowledge, and people often didn't even bring us into discussions, only Viera. At worst we were just seen as the meme race. And it really does feel that by not acknowledging the damage that not speaking about Hrothgars have endured and the impact it already had, it will lead to people forgetting us more and more. And in turn damage the race more and more. Simple as that.
No one wants a race war. And right now, that's not what we should go for. But acknowledging the mistakes of the past and understanding where they led isn't a bad thing. Nor do I expect an apology out of Viera players because it's really not a thing to be sorry for. Square's the one who needs to be sorry, for both of us. Just simply understand how Hrothgar players have been feeling.
As I said xD my apologies. It's really just that Au Ra themselves were designed with that level of detail in mind before we got what we currently have. This profile picture is of my first character, now it's just an alt. Similar hot take, I would've sacrifice all boots to Zodiark if I could get digitigrade paws. At least as their starter racial boots, it's not as if a paw-looking model wasn't there already :CI just saw the new dragon race.
