Same. These forums, like every other game forums, can be ridiculously toxic. These forums are filled with narcissist people who think that because they are unhappy then all other gamers should be unhappy, and with a lot of people who are also pissed at every single thing in the game. Limit your access to these forums, in my opinion, to once or twice a week.

Also same. Even Reddit and Twitter tend to be less toxic than the official FFXIV forums, and that's saying something since they can both be... well, pretty darn toxic. I tend to stay away from these forums for that reason and have only been buzzing around here the last few days to scrape up information about housing and a potential resolution. And, of course, I come here and immediately see "The devs are the same as the WORST outside developer I can THINK OF." Then there's the "the devs are not your friends!" thread where, I don't know, people think being casually rude and crappy to the devs is better than being casually friendly and familial with them. And, of course, the ever present, "whatever tone I take is deserved!" and "I'm actually being nice even though I'd probably get punched if I said that in person" etc.

It's all very exhausting and sort of justifies the opinions a lot of people outside of the gaming world have of gamers.

Why do you think a game has to get to a point where the core community hates playing it? I don't feel that Yoshi-P and his team ever want that situation and neither do many players. It's perfectly fine to want value for your money. And I think you mistake many of us still thinking positively of Yoshi-P and being willing to give the team the benefit of the doubt with blind worship. Many of us do think fondly of him and the team because they may falter (and we bring those instances to light, I'm a healer main and I found the Ultimate comment very odd) but they've also done very right by us. They do stumble sometimes, but their love and care for the game comes through loud and clear. That makes us love and care for the game and want to help them with feedback when they stumble.

It kinda feels at times like people on the forum are obsessed with convincing others about how bad the game supposedly is.
It's the same with the '' toxic positivity '' thing, and then you find out that the reason why people had an issue with the '' criticism '' or negative opinions the OP had was because the OP was being a jerk.

I don't think that this is true, but at times it almost feels like it's infested with salty WoW players.
The forums just comes across like Twitch chat for a WoW Streamer or something being all like '' NUH-UH WEEB LOSER GAME BAD TOXIC POSITIVITY I CAN'T CRITICIZE !?! !? ''.
It's just so fundamentally different than what I see ingame and else where.

Like I understand that there are problems... I've been very frustrated with Job changes too...
But holy hell people act like the devs are intentionally trying to upset people and like it's the worst thing that has ever happened to them.
I get getting upset about stuff, but people gotta have some understanding and self-awareness about how they give criticism to the devs.

And much the same a CM who collects feedback isn't going to collect feedback that is written in an extremely aggressive manner they're going to ignore it.

While I also agree with a lot of the criticisms, it's definitely getting a bit tiring to watch people shit up almost every thread with wild conspiracy theories. It's particularly bad in threads about job design (or threads that devolve into threads about job design). The devs say that they want to make some jobs easier a few times and suddenly every single change is in service of that.

My brother in Christ, sometimes they're just making jobs worse because they're out of touch with the needs of the players. It's not always some Grand Master Plan to make jobs easier and appeal to the lowest common denominator.

Heavily disagree. While there is a lot of negativity on the forums(which i mean, can’t really blame when the devs specifically say to use this place as a place for criticism), nothing compares to reddit or twitter. I still have someone to this day from a year ago making multiple alts to spam death threats at me and my posts, spamming me with homophobic slurs. On ff14 twitter i have had people tell me all men should die, only women need to live, if you dislike anything about the game you’re transphobic etc. I hardly ever see anything like that on here and thank god i don’t.

Can we talk about how they’ve ignored healers for 6+ years now and now recently when they acknowledged them it was to say if they want engaging gameplay go do ultimate? Instead of yknow, addressing the problem directly.

Man I feel for healers but monks were in the trash for the longest too. I gave up and switched mains before they finally changed monk. XIV has it's issues for sure. Talk to anyone maining a healer or DRK. But I'd still say it's lightyears still ahead of whatever the heck they are doing at WoW.
