What is going on with Square Enix and the 14 team?

It's okay to criticize a game- more so if our money is involved.
It's why I have a megathread for hairstyles & beards, bc I know trying to approach a broader amount would attain nothing as my past threads have shown. I personally, do not think we should have to or want to rely on character mods to satisfy our want for better character features/ designs.

I want to see more masculine styles, new faces that have beards etc
For female characters, I want more make-up options & braids, curly hair, more dreads etc
I want to see the devs put more time into adding more cosmetic features in XIV when it comes to the character creating process- just need folks to be constructively and consistent while banding together so it sees more light.

My two biggest complaints for XIV is the housing & the character creator. That's just me.

People have been constructive and polite. Healer mains have pleaded with the devs for years. 6+. And his latest response is to go play ultimate if you want healers to feel engaging. Yet someone in here has the audacity to say nothing will come close to WoW’s tone deafness? Please

Honestly, the WoW comparisons are strange to me because...it can easily be inferred that after seeing the decline of WoW in real time many players moved over to FFXIV who are now seeing the exact same decline here as well.

WoW didn't collapse into controversy over the course of a single expansion. It was a slow, steady process that consisted of many different problems stacking up atop one another. Even then, many players rushed to stifle feedback and pretend everything was fine.

I cancelled my subscription too. At this point, I feel like taking a break is well overdue.
I've always preached how SE have extorted money from Viera and Hrothgar's limitations, but from the outside looking in it seems barely any of that money is invested back into the limited races.
We want them improved, and we want it done within a reasonable time.

Considering this but I manage an FC so I need to figure out if someone wants to take over.

While there are problems to be as hyperbolic as some here are being is a bit disingenuous don't you think? Most of the issues brought up have been addressed or are being reviewed, that would never happen in say WoW. I will be happy as long as I know it is being addressed or reviewed. I will admit there are problems of course but they fact they have been pretty open about it and willing to try to make amends/adjustments where possible tells me this ain't close to begin nearly as bad as WoW, no dev has gone "We don't want you playing *insert class here*" yet.

Nothing will ever come close to as tone-deaf as WoW was during BfA and Shadowlands by a mile given the issues that took months for them to address were brought up in beta and promptly ignored.

Exactly. It was a slow, gradual process much like the one we're seeing here and had just as many people trying to stifle feedback.

And I share those sentiments. Issue is that I have many other sentiments past that.

I want races to be treated with equity. I want the classes to come off finished. And I want systems to be implemented with head, torso and limbs.

I don't criticise the game because it's garbage. I criticise the game because I had fun with it. And because I have fun with it now. But I'm seeing so many things dropping in quality, many design choices being dismised away and I just don't want that to be the norm. I don't want quantity in content, I want quality in the stuff that I get.

Had they given me something unfinished that I knew would be improved upon as the game went on, I'd be fine with it. But they've consistently been doing the opposite. Content that just looks shoddy and "stage 1"-y. Bugs that are frankly something you'd catch on QA. Systems and design that either no one uses (Fellowships) or were released as a skelleton (Profiles). And designs that just get thrown into the bin the moment they're added.

This wouldn't have happened before, I don't get why we continuously excuse it. And if there are a lot of people who are okay with this, then my compromise is a balance. Keep making new systems, for sure. But don't disregard everything else.

It's fine if it's just you. I'm sure someone out there wants something changed that I personally find trivial. But there is no balance with that, just constantly adding stuff with more and more frustration from the people expecting it.

Yeah guys, it's not WoW levels of deafness. But there has been a lot of earwax building up, and you can see it already.

This game already has a massive cash shop though. You can level boost, story skip, race change, home world change, buy NPC outfits as cosmetics, buy other cosmetics, wedding services, mounts and minions. The only difference is that the cash shop isn't built into the game client like it is for World of Warcraft and just about every other modern MMO and assorted online games. That's literally it. Yoshi-P isn't protecting us from anything but rather holding up this illusion that FFXIV isn't the soulless cash cow of Square Enix. Well, I hate to break it to you, it's the soulless cash cow of SE and once you look beyond that, Yoshi-P is kind of clueless when it comes to certain key areas of game design like class design. There's a solid case for replacing him already.

It looks like a certain "disconnection" between the devs and the players for me. And it seems, that their QA is not really existent. This housing bug could be easily discovered when they would buy some houses on an internal test system. But it seems, that nobody did it and this bug is now on a "productive" system. That's weird.

So? Do you want it to stoop that low? If you don't, then this is why people are telling the devs "Yo, quality please".

It's specifically so it doesn't go any lower. It's specifically so that the game doesn't end in a flaccid, flabby shadow of what it was and could have been.
