In a way it is worse instead of leaving it in the players hand to get a house it is now left to luck. Before those solely dedicated to getting a house really tried but now there is more competition meaning it has gotten harder to get either a personal or fc house.

They count on fast sales. Before all they had was a 24 hour wait period to start a brand new FC and the laughably easy task of leveling it to 6. They could packet bomb placards to guarantee they win the house they're after. And then they could sell the FC to a buyer the same hour they bought the house by instantly transferring FC Master rank and leaving the FC. In a single day, they could bring in hundreds of dollars selling FCs, then wait 24 hours and do it again.

Now, they have to set aside those alts for 30 days before even thinking about entering a lotto. Most of them weren't even prepared for this release. (Bravo SE for waiting to announce the 30 day rule until it was too late to scramble together FCs to have ready for the release.) They were botting any available placards up to the moment the servers went down for 6.1 maintenance. Then they have to wait like everyone else for the lotto results, which they aren't guaranteed to win anymore. Can't bot the lotto. SE has also put down restrictions for people who've purchased from placards previously (this I'm still hazy on). And on the off chance they do win, they can remove their alts but they'll have to first find a buyer willing to sit in the FC for 30 days before they can actually transfer it. Good luck getting that buyer to pre-pay for it. And trying to delete the FC Master? Will dissolve the entire FC rather than pass Master down to someone who hasn't been there for at least 30 days.

It's a hassle. I'm sure they'll eventually figure out a system to allow them to continue reselling homes, but it'll never again be the easy, super fast cash cow it was pre-6.1.

    Good.
This is correct. They see gil, house or anything else they can sell as a quick in and out. They don't want to hold something for too long and risking the value going down. On top of that holding it for too long give them more time/chance to get banned should anyone report them. They need quick money, it has to be real money. Unlike us players they don't care about anything else in the game.

Aside from that housing RMT sellers are guaranteed to be botters, it's very easy. All you need to do is to google search a certain forum that has XIV housing sell and buy threads. How can someone make 4-5 FC and have them all have a house in current market where the demands are much higher than supply? so the delay plus lottery means it's way harder for them to get a house and sell a house. At this rate even if they get lucky, they will only manage to sell 1-2 house per year. Compared to dozens they usually sell just in a month alone.

Another thing, some of them even provide a "service" to click a placard for you, for real money. They guarantee a success! how can that be possible without 3rd party softwares? good riddance. Bye bye RMT sellers. My chance to get a plot is lower now (because I was a netflix clicker) but at least everyone else has their chance going up, everyone else as in actual players! not greedy bots. And I wouldn't mind that.

that works OK for big housing expansions, but all the sales in between need a fair (and preferably not soul sucking) way of selling. I still do think Lottery is a good way to go, there were just some decisions made on how to go about a lottery that are... questionable... to be kind. Mainly the split for housing 75% in favor of FC housing... Craaazy.... I also think a 9 day bid process is kind of excessive, but... tolerable compared to the 75/25 housing split

The old system provided significant advantage to those using 3rd party launchers/tools. Lottery is less taxing on human players.

Even though my chances are lower, I rather just drop in my bid and carry on with the rest of the game.

More wards/limited housing is not a good solution with increasing player populations.

Ward housing consumes more server resources than fully instanced housing.
There's a reason that other major MMOs with housing go the fully instanced housing route.

It's way past time, that SE recognize that limited housing is a failed experiment.

Even on Balmung, having had houses in all residential areas, I saw my neighbours maybe twice a year.

Keep the existing ward housing but work towards a new fully instanced housing solution.

Could also let us upgrade apartments for gil to penthouses or make Island Sanctuary a viable alternative to ward housing.

That way players who just want a house can go the fully instanced route and those who want to fight it out for 'exclusive/flex' ward houses, can do so.

Players should never stop complaining about how atrocious, access to this limited ward housing system is and insist that SE provide us with a modern, fully instanced housing solution.

And yet, they are. I'm not sure why you're replying to me, you clearly have another agenda in mind.

Ward style housing is unsustainable. Player growth really requires the devs to re-think the entire housing system. Instanced housing would be less taxing on server space.

Feel free to provide proof of that claim. Player growth led to island sanctuaries. We won't see any significant changes to housing probs till next expansion. There is no agenda, just the truth.

You can go look at the RMT site sales pages for that.

And I don't see truth from you. I just see a lot of negativity and chicken littling.

An even housing split would have made me happier.

Just about anything, including doing something with apartments would have made everyone happier than the current split.

I'd prefer a banana split, haven't had one of those in ages.
