The fate of the scions.... (SPOILER 6.0/6.1)

Their kind of bound to keep them around with their current story writing, unless they want to drag random npc's into the dungeons as trusts. Honestly its a big L to make it seem like "we are off to do our own stuff" to immediately in 6.1 return to them. They have plenty of backup characters that could take bigger roles, many NPC's we met along the way on the source are still around doing nothing.

Nothing about this is a fresh start, the moment Tatataru was like "oh think of all the places" I snapped to "SE used all their zones already we will only revisit old places you lil shit" Minus the odd empty zone with limited purpose like the raid or dungeons.

A Cut like this in which you want to start a new adventure has to be a .0 patch in which you offer new zones and new characters, starting a new story on a .1 is so limiting with the current patch system. Maybe EW should've ended on 6.3 and the final good bye should've been on 6.5 with a small victory lap on 6.55.

But here we are, a new adventure in old zones with old Characters. F

You asked why make a big deal of the parting. Narratively, there isn't a problem. We've been separated for months. So we're not just taking 5 steps and rounding them up again. We've been off doing whatever for those months and they've all been at their endeavors.

I’m sorry, but there is no universe where I can consider the present state of G’raha Tia family. His behavior just makes me feel uncomfortable. I don’t even care if a guy flirts with me, but G’raha Tia looks like a school girl. If a male character is going to take so much interest in my character I would rather it be someone who has masculine beauty/attractiveness like Aymeric or Hien, whose appearances at least match their voice acting. Even then these mannerisms are just strange regardless of appearance or gender.

I would not call on G’raha Tia for any adventure if I had the choice. He isn’t the character I used to like in Shadowbringers, he’s been reduced to a worse joke than Sylvanas Windrunner.

I was so excited for the MSQ this patch but the moment we were told to go round up the main scions I was so disappointed... I swear the B team are never gonna get a chance to shine if we keep getting forced to hang out with WoL's babysitters, which is a damn shame because Hoary Boulder, Coultenet and Riol seem like they'd be an absolute blast to hang out with.

I do like quite a few of them too, yet I have no problems if further expansions give us new NPCs.

For me it would be fine if the scions would mainly become NPCs for side content like the 24 man raid. In the main story they could play some small parts but otherwise for the next expansion I want some fresh faces. (Also if they are not part of the main quests they are not in danger to being killed off)

Yep, I was willing to give 6.1 a chance but it really just looks like more of the same, and worse in some regards. If they eventually want to decouple the WoL from the Scions, they need to start building up the very extensive "B team", as you call it, and bringing them into the spotlight more. At the moment, it just feels stagnant.

I was so pissed when I had to drag Yshtola around Sharlayan on those follow quests. I’m just so over the Scions at this point. I was hoping this would start a new slate where we could set off on our own and meet new people along the way. Instead we got a fake disband at the end of 6.0 only to team right back up with them in the new patch lol.

Looks like more of the same.

Edit: I just wanna add that I used to love this game so much but I’ve noticed that I seem to mostly complain about it now. It’s like part of me is still trying to hold on because I want that same feeling I had back in HW and StB. But some things are just for a season and then it’s time to move on I guess. Not sure how much longer I can hold on to the few things that keep me coming back…

I think they missed a good opportunity to reintroduce the NPC's involved in the Void Ark raids. They have experience dealing with Voidsent and pretty much all of them are Sky Pirates eager for adventure so...they'd have been an excellent fit for the supposed 'themes' of the patch.

The game simply seems to forget about so many interesting characters that are thrown away and never used again after a certain point.

Sadly from what I've seen there's a not insignificant amount of players who are utterly obsessed with the Scions to the point of insulting anyone who dares to suggest that it'd be a breath of fresh air to have a proper break from them every now and then.

Are we really surprised that the team of writers who could not commit to main characters having any consequences for their actions during the expansion set in the literal end of the world is unable to deliver a true fresh new adventure?

This patch has taken me longer than usual to play through due to irl but when I finish I think I will post a longer review and highlight what worked and what has exhausted my patience. But again I have to stress, these characters have for the most part overstayed their welcome.

Move on. Make new characters. Or for goodness sake do something with the ones you insist on keeping around. Please play FFIX or FFX or even Dragon Age in order to relearn what good characterization and development looks like, because there is *nothing* like that happening with our main cast.

Same sentiment here. For me it was HW up to maybe 5.3, although that had some aspects I thought were good.
