The other side of that is that they cannot afford to appeal to only the dedicated/hardcore group. A few thousand players is not enough to keep the lights on and the servers running, let alone develop new content.I'm just disappointed that every job is becoming homogenized such that there's going to be very little difference in playstyle other than how the effects look.
The steps recently taken by SE to FF14 seems to steer towards casting as wide a net as possible to attract all sorts of players, and this usually alienates the more dedicated/hardcore players which is usually the most loyal part of its player base. Whenever something like this happens in a game, the more dedicated players will become disenchanted and eventually quit, leaving behind a casual player base which has little loyalty and flock to whichever game is the flavor of the month.
Eventually, this will lead into a death spiral where there are lesser and lesser players and the game eventually dies. Already, we are already seeing signs of this happening, which is really sad since FF14 is a game with so much potential and SE is squandering it away to appeal to the lowest denominator.
For SAM they removed one button and look at the reaction it has gotten. That makes no sense. I'd get it if people were happy who wanted to play SAM but thought it was too complex and SE removed like 4 or 5 buttons and made some abilities auto switch to the next in line. Theres no way the people for this change actually played SAM, were bad at it and the one thing stopping them from doing good was 1 button. Also its a very cool button that added some depth to resource management and looked cool. Theres better ways to go about button bloat but removing abilities that help with class identity are not the way.I personally would prefer less buttons to push. lol I think they could prune a lot of class buttons. When class buttons moves beyond the two default action bars, it is too much imo. I am the type of person though that like things to just be fun and simple. Not necessarily overly easy I guess but easy to understand wtf is happening and why, and what i need to do. More buttons does not necessarily mean more complex or more difficult.. it just means clutter imo.. adding difficulty or complexity by adding buttons it is more artificial imo..
Also you got to think most players might not play like you do. Maybe they have some data somewhere that tells them that the average player is not at the play level as people like yourself. Usually these game companies tend to cater to the people in which gives them the most money. That is usually the normies/ casual players, cause they move through the content slower and thus have higher potential to give them money for longer periods of time and there are more of them... So I would imagine that , those are the types of people that will be catered to most often.
So it could honestly be set up that ffxiv is not a game built with people who are decently good at games in mind..
I really don't think that you need to be a hardcore player to manage your base rotation for any of the Jobs.
And people who only play casual content don't even need to do it, and they're never going to engage with content where it even matters.
A ton of SAM players never use Higanbana and the list goes on for SAM and other jobs too I don't think that means that we need to remove stuff just so that they can perform closer to people who actually do play properly.
It doesn't even matter to anyone other than people who do the more difficult content so why should it be dictated by people who basically don't make an effort at all and just want to see the MSQ and/ or play casually?
Even so I don't think that casual players are as bad as people sometimes say even tho I am using the word here myself.
I think most casual players are fully capable of learning their rotations and clearing Extremes at least and most if not all floors in Savage.
It feels more like the game is going in the direction of appealing to people who don't even want to try and learn, like the response is to just remove and dumb things down in response.
Monk was taken to out back as well with the new Nadi system and all of our oGCDs going away. =/ lol they kept six-sided star and anatman hahaI mean ast fun got destoryed after stormblood
and honestly i use to enjoy gladitor/pally flash it got removed completely
tanks scourge, fracture etc outside pally got removed
Warrior- no longer fun
even in some of the caster jobs they got ruined and the fun destoryed for many ppl (personally i find new summoner more fun but not enough abilitys yet)
noone cared and what was said was easily dismissed for both casters/tanks and healers
the stack bs is stupid on berserk and other abilitys the timer of it u could get more than 4-5 ups with it if you were intelligent
and now it happans to mele ppl some how cares lol
DPS main but I LOVED AST up until they ripped all our cards and time magic from us. Now it feels like an empty shell of a job ever since. SMN too, gutted. It’s insulting, and nauseating. I started super fresh mid HW and maxed every job through ShB, and never once did I sit back and say “oh wow wish they’d make this job or rotation easier, this is SOOO hard to comprehend for my feeble brain!!!” Like give me a break. Quit insulting the player base. We are not morons. Knock it off.
