Well, WHM got their MP adjustments and some damage buffs. Pretty standard as far I see across all the adjustments.

I see Dia is now a downgrade to Aero 2 after the adjustments

I find it funny you mentioned Cataclysm since if you knew a bit about WoW's population numbers Cataclysm was the expansion that started the great downward trend for sub numbers in that game.

They also did a 180 on that harder stance and made battle significantly easier in both battle design and job design. Talents trees went away in favor of only 18 "choices" where you realistically had a BiS talent build that most people didn't deviate from.

I want Lilies to get an oGCD attack combo action, in a similar vein to GNB's Continuation combo so that I don't just sit there for 2.5s doing nothing after using a Lily spell since I don't have much to weave with while also making Misery DPS neutral by association.
I want them to return Aero 3, even if it doesn't stack with Dia, just so that I have an AoE DoT to round out my AoE rotation. Why do we have a ST and AoE nuke but no AoE DoT to go along our ST DoT?
I want Holy to be 1.5s to cast so that I can weave what few oGCDS I do have without clipping and not having to worry about constantly moving out of AoEs once my stun has worn off.
Freecure proccing off of Glare casts would also be an amazing addition instead of being the trap it currently is.

Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.

You can give healers engagement without having unscripted random damage. That said, crit autos used to be a thing back in SB, and they actually required you to pay attention to the tank’s health, since you had no idea when they were going to happen. But because they were “too stressful” on baby healers, they were sent to the chopping block like our second DoT was.

Changing the mindless nuke spam 150+ times during a given encounter would go a long way to engagement. Give me multiple DoTs with different timers I have to watch. Or give me procs off something I need to be mindful about. Just anything to break up the Glare/Malefic/Broil/Dosis spam that is slowly wearing down the X button on my controller.

I don’t even know why they got rid of Protect. It’s still there in the pvp mode.
Because you pressed it once during a fight and it lasted for 30 minutes. There was no thought or strategy to it, and it was thoroughly uninteresting. It was also a very miniscule defense buff that only mattered in Ultimate because incoming damage was so low everywhere else. Protect was the epitome of unengaging, and I don’t miss it.

Healers in gw2 can buff, make your skills get off cooldown faster, buff crit rate, apply block. But square won’t take the game into that direction. It seems like they /tried/ to with Astro but WONT SOMEBODY THINK OF THE CASUALS
There used to be things like reduced cooldown duration. AST’s original Spear did that back in HW and early SB—however, that really messed with the bursts/rotations of a lot of jobs, and it only worked on cooldowns used while the buff was active, so Spear was basically Royal Road fodder. They changed it to plus critical hit rate, and it became infinitely more valuable, especially while placed on certain jobs in SB (BRD and MNK, primarily, because of how their toolkits interacted with crit).

SCHs do buff crit rate with Chain Strategem, and healer mains have tried repeatedly asking for WHM to have something like Bravery as a party buff, but the developers are stuck in this mindset of “WHM is the pure/burst healer whose sole utility is the raw amount of healing it brings to a party! Not raid buffs! Those don’t matter when WHM can do all of this healing!!1!!!1111!!1!1”

There is a huge disconnect between how healers are actually played in this game, and how the developers think they should be played. It’s exacerbated by the fact that no one on the design team actually plays them.

I'm not a healer main. In fact, I find healing scary and difficult and I'm plenty engaged when healing at level (and even sometimes during previous expansions). But I can see how for someone who mains healer, the massive heal kit that rarely sees any use can be frustrating. So how about a party buff that also adds vulnerabilty and bleed to the entire party. Basically trading away your healer dps to the rest of the party in return for needing to do more healing. Having it dps neutral it'd mean that it is completely up to the healer's discretion to use, since nothing in terms of dps is lost if not using it.

I can’t tell if this is a serious suggestion or not. You’re joking, right?

I think their point is that Protect IS engaging in PvP as a short CD, damage reduction buff. It could easily exist in PvE in that exact same form instead of the one and done it was originally designed as.

Then I apologize for misinterpreting. That wasn’t how I understood their comment since there wasn’t really any elaboration about it being more engaging in PvP. I don’t participate in PvP and haven’t since HW, so I’m not familiar enough with the way healers function in there, other than they’re move fun to play than in PvE.

Now, now... they forced one dude to play it... He even got all the way to EX primal fights... then he was "too good" so they replaced him... according to a recent Famitsu interview. (think it was Famitsu)

"Then what is magic for?" Prince Lir demanded wildly. "What use is wizardry if it cannot save a unicorn?"
Schmendrick did not turn his head. With a touch of sad mockery in his voice, he said, "That's what heroes are for."
