All the previous complainers gave us this new system that we now have to deal with that ONLY benefits the larger companies. Seems to me that anyone with tons of gil and/or multiple characters with tons of gil will just run around and place entries on every plot they can afford to do so on where as sprouts with barely enough gil to make a play for a single plot just get shafted by this system. This is a week-old, soaked bandaid on what is already a very broken system. It says "one lottery entry per lottery period" but it doesn't specify if that's per plot or just one entry period.

As an FC leader say wanting to upgrade to a larger plot, basically what I'd do is give characters and trusted members to the FC gil from the chest, and buying privs to put the deposits down on a house. Now if you are homeless, that's a bit more work.

They specifically addressed this in the live letter saying they designed the system to benefit the largest FCs. FCs can enter as many times as they have members and gil.

It's way more preferable to the FCFS system that promoted endless macroing/unhealthy lengths of signboard clicking that locked you out of your computer effectively for hours, LOTS of hours at a time.

Well with the old systems where I got my house you bascially needed to be there on patch day, log in right away (hope for no dc) and run towards your house. If you were lucky you then got it with one click. If not you could still try to get another house. On top of that if you just got a small you could just relocate later without any timers and stuff like that.

The timers were horrible but I dont see how this system is much better. Because now you might even get less of a chance because many people can now just put their bid down which will increase the amount of competition. And at the same time you can only bid once too.

Simple, no more advantages for people who can book a day off work.

Also if a house is freed up you no longer need to deal with relocators or have to glue yourself to a signboard for a plot, just stick your lot in and wait.

It seems the main problem some people have is they cannot take advantage over people who may not be able to commit to the critical moment due to things like work.

Not saying you're wrong, just genuinely curious how instanced housing is a bandaid when it would likely require a complete overhaul/removal of the current housing system? A complete overhaul / new system is hardly a bandaid. Seems more like a new wound to me, not a bandaid ( only saying this because no matter what they made, we know not everyone will be happy and it wont be perfect ).

Either way any speculation over alternative systems is pointless. We have what we have and SqE seems determined to dig their heels in this utter mess. Nothing is going to fix it until they continue to add wards every patch to meet the demand and we know they likely wont ever do this.
