The existence of a third party mod that does something the XIV devs have said is impossible is not an indication that it would be possible for the XIV devs to implement. Third party developers do not have an obligation to ensure that all players can play the game with all optional features activated, on a minimum spec machine, within the memory and clock limitations of a minimum spec machine; nor do third party developers have an obligation to ensure that the features they implement do not break other features. The XIV devs do.

They really don't. They have no obligation to make sure the highest graphical settings run on the minimum specs as a quick and easy example. By simply saying: "Using mods are at user discretion and SE has no responsibility for any issues you may incur" is simple.

You act like WoW and ESO don't already do this perfectly fine. So I'm unsure why SE would suddenly have a massive issue doing the literal exact same thing.

Exactly. It's easy to say "but the modders can do it", but modders aren't held to the same standards and quality checks as the actual game devs. If a mod doesn't work on some hardware, or causes graphical issues with some items, or breaks with a new patch, or has any of the million other issues a mod can have, the modders can waive it with a simple "run this at your own risk." Meanwhile an official game feature with those same issues would never fly. That's why SE can't just easily add in all the things mods can do.

This is accurate and anyone who actively mods in this game/understands how modding works in general should be able to stand behind this.

That is true. But the reason behind is, nobody of the modders knows exactly how a mod must be made to work flawlessly. SQEX could make a contest for new hairstyles, clothes, faces etc. and tell the modders how to do that. There was already a weapon contest and SQEX offered a weapon template. The same thing could me made for other things. And the best ideas could be put directly into the game.

The mods exist because the game itself has so poor character creation options.

    Cheers
