Anyways, I got Seat of Sacrifice in trial roulette. The last few times I’ve gotten this fight, it hasn’t been too meme-y so I was expecting it to go relatively smooth. Maybe the new guy would die a few times to mechanics. No big deal.

Well—we never actually cleared, because someone kept griefing during the ATM button spam.

The first time, it was the new person. They must not have realized that the ATM was as long as it was and failed. Spoke up about it in chat. Apologized. Whatever. It happens. We laughed about it and moved on. But then it happened 3 more times. The SGE and PLD asked if people maybe needed more explanations on what buttons they could press. I offered the options controller users had (literally just mash your D-pad and Circle/X/Triangle/Square in a circle, and the bar never moves). But then we just kept failing. People agreed someone was griefing—but there’s no way to determine who caused you to fail the mechanic so we couldn’t just kick them and keep going. We agreed to one last pull—and failed. Of course.

Eventually, I just took the L and left, allowing others to abandon with no penalty if they wanted. (We couldn’t Vote Abandon because it had not been 15 minutes yet.) Dinner was ready, and I was kind of losing my patience at that point. That’s probably the second time in my 6 years of playing that I’ve actively taken a penalty. I feel bad for the new person—I really am sorry. But it was just ridiculous. I don’t understand why people think purposely failing and griefing is funny.

Kind of sucks there’s no way to determine who failed the ATM. I know what happened in my group is not the norm—but knowing would have at least allowed us to kick the offender and move on so the new person could continue the story. And not have to queue again. Oh well. What can you do.

I hope they didn’t have to wait for too long.
Mashing like crazy actually makes it harder for people than it needs to be!
As long as you keep pressing buttons in a rythm, you'll be fine.

The lower the bar gets, the higher it jumps each button press.
Just leisurely press it in the rythm of the clock in the background and you'll be absolutely fine.

I usually eat something or even drink during it, all "keep pressing button" ATMS don't need mashing (same goes for in from the cold).
The ones you have to fill in time need faster mashing than that bar, funnily enough.
