It's the idea that because people pay money to play this game, they treat it as their own and think they have the right to play & talk to others however they like. The veil of anonymity people have online can also fuel unhealthy personality traits to come out stronger since, to them, there's no actual real life consequence or chance of people finding out who they really are.

This is one of the main reasons I prefer server-only dungeon finder content. Even though queues are longer, you'll eventually get to know the usual crowd and build a reputation among players. People will a bad reputation generally get put on black lists (game mechanic) or get shunned/refused to play with by the community. People should be accountable for their behavior and deal with the consequences, positive or negative, of their actions.

Whilst over all that was how most mmos, even WoW , used to operate when they were still young, it would kill the accessibility

    Think as a business

Do they make a niche adventure camp retreat or a full blown theme park built for as many ticket buying people as possible ?

They thought bigger , and made strides to include access for as many duty types as possible . Some like GW2 and WoW even went as far as making a mega world built up from many realms so that the player counts were huge and manged in instances or shards

Blacklisting would actually have to work properly in this game for your suggestion to even work at all . The way players can continue to troll/harass and abuse others, and yet not suffer from being properly blocked in this game is appalling.

And that's what kills a game and turns it into a "service".

I completely get the reasoning behind having Battlegroups/Data Centers; it's a wise choice from a logistics and economics standpoint in the current day. I remember the days of isolated servers and how recognizing people and building reputations increased the sense of community. Finding groups was painful at times if your guild mates weren't on or if you didn't have a large pool of friends to contact.

I sure am seeing a lot of toxic positivity on the forums lately where people are hounding on those who are criticizing the game!

It's equally unhealthy to take these things seriously.

anyway I think that's just a growing problem with a lot of communities (marvel movies, star wars, wow, ect). it's seen as an attack on their interests so getting defensive and deflecting criticism is bound to happen.

I think the worst part for me is the emotional manipulation that happens at times, people bring up Soken having cancer or the devs going through a hard time during COVID and fans being terrible to them as a way to deflect criticism, which is just awful imo. reddit is pretty bad for this with people not being totally happy with EW especially
I couldn't agree more. Any criticism for anything lately is met with harsh responses or people bring up irrelevant things like Soken having cancer or that we should be grateful we are getting anything. Uh...we're paying for this game and we have a right to address concerns, provide feedback, and state our opinions. Some fans are just completely defensive and extremely aggressive to any criticism which deep down inside they probably know is true. We live in sad times in all fan communities right now (especially Star Wars as you mentioned).

Some one that was posting pictures of ice cream earlier likes to remind everyone that this is not WoW and we don't need moar raids, if you bring up that this game lacks content.
