Oof, that's a bad take right there. A tanks job is not to lead the party, it's to maintain aggro and threat so the party is safe from direct attacks from enemies and mobs. Get the main character syndrome out of your head. Tanks don't lead or set the pace, the party does. If the tank is not dying, the mobs are dying fast cause the DPS are competent and the healer can keep up, then you can at least try to wall to wall, because why not? It's just waiting time at that point if you do not. I repeat, tanks do not set the pace, that's an egoist mindset. Neither do healers or DPS. It's a party thing. As a tank your job is to maintain aggro and threat so your party does not get mauled to death by mobs. A healers job is to heal unavoidable damage on the tank and keep them and the DPS alive (and take care of dps that step in red/get hit with unavoidable damage) and a DPS's job is to play their job competently and kill packs/mobs/bosses as fast and effectively as they can to help the healer and tank use less recourses to survive the encounter. That's it. No role ever states anything about being a 'leader' or a 'follower' and as I mentioned before that's a self-centred and egoist mindset to have. If others have aggro, and you are a tank, do your role and take threat and aggro off them. If the party wipes, it simply means you can't do it, and if you survive, great, everything is fine. Pulling ahead constantly even when you ask not to is shitty behaviour, but so is pulling a 'I refuse to heal you' or saying 'You pull you tank'. One does not excuse nor allow the other.

Don't think the party can handle it? Take the mobs and prove yourself correct. If turning off tank stance is the only way to force a wipe then the party could have handled it.

As someone who always mains tank and healer classes in every game, if you are pulling as a DPS I will let you die and I will leave. You can find someone else who wants the headache of dealing with you.

Any good tank knows what their group can and cannot handle. Often, I'm teamed with a healer as a tank or vice-versa and we are in communication so I know if I need to slow down or not.

In the end, the important thing is: If you are DPS, your job is to kill the things the tank pulls. Period. If you want to pull, you should be playing a tank.

Why don’t you vote dismiss the early puller and see what happens?

    A Tank is the Leader.

Not the DPS and definitely not the Healer.

A party where anyone but the Tank sets the pace has always ended up by being far more effort than it needed to be.

Worse are the parties where the Tank lets themselves be bullied.

Funny way to say meatshield. Did you know that tanks arent required at all to clear dungeons? It's a painful slog but it can definitely be done without them.

They initially pull you away with their tongue and right into a group of them. If the fall damage didn't kill you first.
Dzemael and Aurum Vale are special cases when it comes to pulling because both have a rough room that can cause problems. Nearly every other dungeon (ESPECIALLY, ShB/EW dungeons) are built specifically to limit what you're pulling to a size that people should be able to handle with little to no problems.

"Tanks know their limits" is a strange defense because there's no play style difference as a tank between having 2 or 20 enemies on you; AoE + hit mitigations. Healers are the only member of the party who will need to play differently (i.e. heal more/less often) depending on the number of mobs are pulled.

godspeed, you tanks who bravely "lead" three other people down linear corridors. where would your groups be without your leadership skills?

It's just getting a bit more DPS ahead and making the pull smoother.

The one instance I can find no fault with for pulling ahead, and even rewards pulling ahead of the tank, is if a sage is in the party, because they can pre-shield Eukrasian Diagnosis. Having the Eukrasian Diagnosis shield break on the tank means 1 extra Toxikon II stack to do more DPS. Having a shield break on each party member mean more 3-4 more Toxikon II stacks... so funnily enough there's a bit of party play cooperation in pulling first but running close enough to the tank that the aggro can immediately be retransferred over to the tank with a sage in your group.
It is bad DPS playstyle to pull ahead, you wont gain anything if it means that the tank then because behind need to make sure to hit all 1-2 times, then you as a DPS is stalling the progress and can be reported for obstruction, alot of these dungeons now a day got more than one zone in it as well, to think of loadtime being a factor as well.

Pull ahead constantly on purpose is rude, not encouraging whatever tank to be better either other than being mean to and actually making the job harder, from a healer perspective, I would see better purpose in reviving a player that does this kind of rude behaviour rather than healing, and that is due to, if I heal I may be the next one to kick the bucket, and then it is bad, as for tanking go the pace you can handle, and if it means DPS is dying because of it, then it is all on their end, and them wasting the time of the group.

it is bad to pull ahead of tank, unless needs guidance as in being new and asking for it, else it is either toxic as hell or as this entire thread here casual toxic.
