At some point people are just going to have to accept that FFXIV is not a "hardcore" MMO by nature and never will be. There is harder content for the (extremely small, whether certain voices like admitting to this or not) minority that want it, and that's enough. Trying to appeal to the smallest demographic (which is what ELO would do) is a surefire way of losing money, not to mention just a crappy thing to do in general. The attitudes displayed by some in this thread is an excellent example of "GCBTW", but not in the way those who constantly spew it think.
Oh, please. Telling someone (in as bland a way as possible) that they should seek out something they'll actually enjoy rather than, you know, saying the game they came to should completely change to suit them is ludicrous. You're not talking QoL or other (valid) criticisms here; you want a complete shift in design philosophy, regardless of your acknowledgement (toddlers? really?). You've been nothing but abrasive and dismissive regarding the valid arguments given as to why ELO here would be a terrible idea and are (hate to say it) a perfect example of the "toxic elitist."
I've done the "hard core" thing in other, older MMOs prior to making this my main MMO at the tail end of HW, have never stepped foot in Exs or Sav when current, yet still push my buttons as needed while minimizing gaining vul stacks. Do I screw up at times? Absolutely, and anyone claiming they never do is full of it. The older I get the less I care about executing a burst window flawlessly and more about spending my time doing something I find enjoyable rather than treating it as a job. If this makes me one of the "toddlers" in your rant because a run took 3 minutes longer, so be it.
While I can get annoyed sometimes during a run depending on this or that, I ultimately don't mind if things don't go perfectly as long as people are legit trying. I've had some dumpster fire runs in roulette that have stuck in my memory because of how entertaining they were, and I imagine many have experienced the same. I wouldn't trade that for anything.
