That is not what I said. I meant the playerbase's need for the missing gender. Of course SE makes a lot of money from fantasias, which I have acknowledged, and even stated that not updating (or "fixing") the races makes them even more with players who switch back and forth.

People just naturally will want to play the unplayable gender of a gender-locked race in any game. Miqo'te were gonna be gender-locked too as I recall but they changed their minds. I think it's just pointless to gender-lock a race in an MMO because people will ALWAYS complain that they can't be the "other gender" as this one race. Might as well just let them have it.

Yeah, no matter how much Yoshida has explained how doing so would impact the rest of the game. I do not care about a person's want when it comes at the expense of everything else. Female viera/male hrothgar were already added, it was time for them to make good on their promises for updates, and fix the ridiculous issues with hrothgar and fantasia. Instead much of the playerbase whined and complained about male viera (not really female hrothgar), instead of unifying over the issues present currently, and now male viera players are more and more switching off and joining us here in complaints about the limitations.

Occasionally I would love to fanta to Viera, just to see how some tall outfits would look like, but the lack of hats is quite concerning. And when I stop to think about the lack of hair choices... Ugh. No way. Can't even imagine what it is to be like for the furry dudes.

IMO adding more genders before fixing was a bad decision. If they at least made sure that new hats and hairstyles are available for the ALL races... But alas, we don't even have that. I often wear ARR gear and see the cute holes for lala/elezen/miqo ears or how certain hats marks the character's ears and it's so adorable... I really miss that kind of detail in-game. It's a pity to see this sort of thing being ignored given that glamour is probably the biggest content of this game.

If it's this troublesome to fix problems with a race that's a sellable point of an expansion, I guess my hopes for them updating the Character Creation for other races should be zero.

Honestly, even if it weren't Hrothgar specifically (maybe the Lupin or the more dragonlike Au Ra that were teased back in HW), I can say with maybe 85% certainty, if the servers didn't explode with the outcry for Viera, whatever beast race they decided to release would have been released in a way better state than what we have now. As much as I love my viera alt, I do sometimes wish that they community outcry wasn't so great. We probably would have had hrothgals by now and hrothgar wouldn't feel like a race thats still in its Beta stages

Regardless of my love for bun boys, I will stand by my feelings from those 2 years ago that it should have been full hroth, and hroth done right - like worgen right.
The community outcry was bound to happen when they showcased female viera and left the community waiting for the reveal of male viera. But alas what's done is done and SE now spends years having to make up for it.

Although, I have recently fanta'd to Hroth once again.
I went from having some things to no things
Honestly, just overhaul the character creation system. I think you can spare the 2M for a team of developers whose sole purpose is that.

Hrothgar was supposedly what Yoshida had actually wanted for the game, as a beast race, for racial variety, but since it was the "last chance" - at the time - to add any more races to the game, viera makes a lot of sense as an FF fan favorite - a highly requested race that would definitely sell fantasias. That outcry, and total aversion towards "missing genders" (in actuality mostly just male viera), changed this, and threw a hamper in those plans. Funnily enough, if hrothgar would have came out male+female, people would have been annoyed that this was our last race, but people wouldn't have went up in arms over wanting their bunboys if viera were never a thing in the first place. Female viera/male hrothgar went from a well intentioned last addition to round out the races, to this.

Yes, I will always blame male viera, they weren't a necessary addition - not yet anyway. When it comes to missing genders, I personally think it would have made more sense for female hrothgar to be added first instead of male viera, but popularity won out, of course.

This is factually incorrect. I don't know if the girls have it, but male viera ears have bounce physics. When you walk, dance, fight, they are always bouncing aroud. It's a reason why I love my viera, the bouncy ears are really endearing.

Viera's ears are the same as how they were in XII... I doubt the developers would change the ears' physics because at this point, a lot of people (myself included) love them and wouldn't want them adjusted.

They do, but very minimally. The stiff ears are the most animated, and the totally bent ones are rock solid on females (as far as I can tell). The ones I have are the only ones I can notice swaying when I move. (Also a reason I love them. I jump around more often because I like the boingggg)

Do they? Every time I look at a viera their ears are pretty much harder than a dance pole.
Granted, I haven't stopped to look at them fishing for details, but physics are noticeable if we're talking of miqo'tes for example.

If the baguette aspect of it is a design choice... Well, I suppose it is a matter of taste.
