
Yea the show went downhill once they diverged from the book. They just did not have the creativity to plot a course forward on their own without the books guiding them. Partly the fault of R.R Martin for being so slow to finish the remaining books hahaI'm not sure it needs to be said but just in case.
GoT is an unfinished book. What the TV series did finalized the series of its own accord. I believe George R.R. Martin is even on record stating the direction they took is not the one he intended.
It's probably better that way anyways. The books are really good reads if anyone fancies themselves a fantasy/politics fanatic. An ending like that in novel format would really disappoint a lot of people.
