What's the point with that quite lackluster story in Endwalker?

And there's nothing wrong with that. People are allowed to enjoy the overall journey with or without believing it's flawed.

What I can't understand is why anyone who truly sees the story as flawless would want to be in this thread. Why not create another thread praising the story and everything you loved about it? I dunno, it just seems unhealthy to be here if you're not willing to speculate.

I believe she stated in her final speech that what she did wasn't worthy of praise. More after everything she saw, she felt it was her only option to keep her people from completely destroying themselves. The way the story was presented, it worked out in the end, but she didn't do it because it was the right thing to do, she didn it because she felt it was the only recourse.

She took a gamble that paid off. But she wasn't a monster like some want to make her it to be. She had her reasons for doing it, much like Emet did his, but he gets praised for murdering billions to try to restore things to the way they were, while she gets treated as if she's a psychopath.

You can say the game is biased towards her, but no more than the forums are baised against her.

Emet is a lovable little psychopath. Venat is a pretentious psychopath. I'm not sure why anyone would think either of them isn't a megalomaniac. When you and only you can save the whole world (allegedly)... you are in crazy territory.

I don't mind them being crazy... I just think the game's glorification of Venat/Hydaelyn is.... unwarranted and inappropriate.

I liked fighting her.... maybe it would have been better during the fight if she did come unhinged and show more of her crazy. I think I might have enjoyed that.

Nothing in Endwalker is original. It's all been done in the past by other writers. How Endwalker approached/implemented it is akin to something you'd rather not have me say.

Nitpick if you want - but complaining that Zordiak isn't the final boss is far more unoriginal than anything else that's been done on Endwalker.

Actually, I don't really care how original the developers are. On the other hand, putting Zordiak as the 1st challenge was indeed rather surprising. It was the expected effect, and I just appreciate that they tried something different.

Sometimes it's good to appreciate the simple effort - rather than complaining all the time. I'll bet if we had Zordiak as the last antagonist, people would have screamed because it was too predictable.

Remember, we do pay for this game. As such we deserve a certain level of quality. If this thread is anything to go by, the EW storyline is not the level of quality of older expansions.

What about us, the Warrior of Light? We definitely put ourselves in that position. I do feel like in one way Endwalker makes us step back and take a hard look at all that.



On a side note, someone mentioned having Zenos dodge the planets and I can only imagine the hilarity of doing that with the arena rocking a la Sophia.

Well let’s see. Within 3 patches 2 unsundered are offed. Elidibus got a total of about 2 patches since he wasn’t really featured in 5.1. Was used for random ff1 fanservice, had a horribly written plot tied to him(random brain dementia), only had one bgm for his fight vs every other .3 fight having at least 3 themes barring ramuh. Then in endwalker he gets a 5 minute cameo and gets killed off. For being someone who was built up since the beginning as this manipulative cunning person and we see very little of that in all actuality it was beyond a disappointment.

This is basically how I felt. I'd also like to add that I thought he would have ended up being a bigger threat once it was revealed that he is the heart of Zodiark. (Him serving that function felt like it had minimal impact on the story overall.) Instead he was killed off in the next patch.

Yep this is exactly my point. You would think the heart of one of the two main deities/god-like primals would have more of a presence but he was just killed off within a patch, and we didn’t even really get to see him utilize said primal’s abilities that he was aspected to. It’s why it just leaves such a bitter taste in my mouth that after all that, they had a chance this expansion to fix that but instead he got a 5 minute cameo and got killed off. And now the only part of him we have to interact with is his past self.
