I personally find it a little insulting when people come and say both races have it bad, when one of them is being grossly neglected to the point where they can't change their hairstyles without using a Fantasia.

And while I'll concede that both races could use a lot of polish, I think it would be fair if they gave Hrothgar priority for some well deserved TLC after waiting over two years.



I retracted my comment as to avoid inciting unnecessary drama, but I guess you were too quick to reply to it. I'm just voicing my frustration over how this whole situation has been managed by SE, and I apologize if I ruffled any feathers. I just don't find it particularly fair that some people seem to demand more features while some of us have been waiting for far longer than them.

Do you know how many times I've had to argue with people because they swear Hrothgars can change their hairstyle with the aesthetician? The average player doesn't even know what's going on with us, and most people turn a blind eye towards these issues because it doesn't affect them. I wish more people would realize how severely limited we are, rather than just being unable to wear hats. But whatever, I guess arguing on a forum is about as productive as shouting into the void.

Literally no one is saying Hrothgar DON'T have it worse. They do. The fact they need to use fantasias to change hairstyles is utterly baffling and beyond stupid.

But that doesn't negate that Viera are also unfinished. They have both waited two years for literally anything. This thread is for BOTH of them. Of course people are gonna complain about both races in a thread for complaints about both races. I'm not even opposed to Hrothgar getting fixed first, they never should've been released the way they were, but the point of the thread is that both races are miles behind all the others and people aren't happy about it.

Dude we are literally on the same side here. The implementation of both races sucked. It still sucks. Hrothgar absolutely have it worse. But I'm not gonna shut up and be happy because the unfinished race I happen to like more has it less bad.

Honestly, this energy is better spent being directed at SE. You know, the only party here that can do anything about the state of either race.

Well, try to look at things from my perspective too. When Shadowbringers released, I was all on board with the "both races" argument. After all, who wouldn't want the missing features for both? So I joined and pitched in my two cents under the support for both races.

Several threads popped up asking for them; the most notorious one being the Male Viera petition thread. If I recall correctly, they were also asking for Female Hrothgar, mostly out of courtesy since most people wanted Viera. Obviously this caught SE's attention, given the sheer number of supporters.

Come the Endwalker announcement, and Viera finally obtained their missing gender. Mission accomplished! But... what about Female Hrothgar? Well, we just got a brief mention that they were coming eventually, with no mention when. It could be in a patch, or in a future expansion or two. Not enough to even warrant some concept art, to at least get a feel for what we'll get. Oh well.

After that, I genuinely thought they would announce something for Hrothgar during the Fan Fest or Live Letters, in lack of their Female counterpart, but it was more radio silence as usual.

Then comes the Endwalker release, and Female Viera got some of the most popular hairstyles. Cool! But... what about Hrothgar? Nah, just a vague mention of patch 6.1. adding something for them. Still no mention on whether they will address the race's core flaws or not. Alright.

And now, with Viera getting new things, there's a thread asking for more. Whenever Hrothgar players bring up the fact that our race still has some severely glaring issues that shouldn't have even passed QA, people are quick to jump the gun and say this thread is for both races. Yeah, I've heard that before.

Obviously no one wants to be the guy that goes against unity and holding hands. I don't disagree with the spirit of the post, not in the least. Both Viera and Hrothgar require much needed support when compared to the other races, but it's frankly a little discouraging when people shout "both races!!" when making these threads, while historically only one of them gets the preferential treatment.

Square should've released both genders at the same time, and address their flaws at the same time instead of letting a % of the playerbase feel completely neglected and bereft of any support. Now we're all in a weird situation where we're all unhappy, despite their best efforts.

I've said my piece, and I doubt I'll continue engaging in a circular argument ad nauseam. Obviously the "let's collaborate and unite together for change" argument will always look preferable over the alternative. I've been there and done that, and I still have nothing to show for it. So forgive me if I'm a little cynical about holding hands while we still haven't gotten anything to this day.

I feel like calling these ported styles "some of the most popular" is a stretch, and the quality done for them is.. questionable at best. Feels more like viera got something last minute if anything, and I am concerned for the quality of any future additions. Viera also waited over two years for a single hair. Also, I presume it's probably easier to port a hair to viera, than it is to hrothgar. Hrothgar may actually get some custom race specific styles if anything.

Yeah that is also another thing: SE KNOWING that vieras are unhappy with the amount of hairstyles we have willingly went and made a bunch of new hairstyles for males, and didnt bother thinking "hmmmmmm, maybe we could just make all of these unisex so female vieras get a bunch of new hairstyles." It was even suggested multiple times in the forums to let male and female viera share hairstyles. Even taking lore into it, you cant really tell a female viera from a male viera until a certain age so....it would even make sense to let them share hairstyles. That wouldve meant a huge increase. And it isnt even like the male hairstyles are "too masculine" or whatever. All their hairstyles would look great on the females and vice versa.
And before anyone says "but then you cant tell the sexes apart" like....have you SEEN lalas? And that argument goes out the window as soon as you realise basically all hairstyles are unisex now so everyone can present as they would like for the most part.

I do know a few boy buns who were disappointed they didn't get the big ponytail style. Honestly doubt we will ever see big and long hair like f Viera styles ever again :c
